Jayco Outback Penguin
« on: April 28, 2012, 10:59:02 PM »
Hi, We are proud owners of a 2011 Jayco Outback Penguin and am considering mounting a second spare and a storage box at the read of our camper. Intend to beef up the current rear bumper and add additional brackets to the chassis. Will also need to install additional rear lights, blinkers and number plate etc...As the Penguin had the heavest ball weight I cannot see any issues with this plan... Although there has been a lot of conversation regarding rear spares, can anyone see any major issues with this? Also, is there a maxium distance that the storage box can extend our the back, as I was planning for an additional 600mm?

I have a 2003 Penguin Outback with rear triple jerry can  holder and spare wheel.
counter balances the 2 x 9kg gas bottles I have on the front.

Does this better counter balance your camper? Did you beef up the rear bumper to cater for the extra weight out the back?
