to trust waeco or not?

my  waeco fridge played up over christmas where it said it was 26c inside fridge and the compressor run constantly. so itwas really around -2 inside fridge. So turned it off and used other fridge for a while. Now it seems to be workng perfectly.  we are heading off shortly on a 2 week trip in some remote areas can i trust it or not? How do i get it fixed if working fine?

I have an 80 litre Waeco fridge freezer with three compartments.  I always run it at -18, as that allows the freezer section to operate, and the other two sections stay cool from that.  That is how the supplier that I bought it from told me to run it, and never had a termperature problem.  I have had to replace a couple of clips, but nothing else in four years.

Thanks i run 2 waecos 1 50 and 1 40 run one at -10 and one at-1 and never had problem before?

Eddy,  cant think of the name, but there is a repair place in Holbech rd Blacktown, from feedback i have had they are helpfull people.
 maybe worth the trip to get it checked out..

someone else may be able to help with the company name.

When you had the issue with it at Christmas I would assume you were operating it on 240v, but anyway - did the compressor run constantly, or did it continually cycle on and off? Waecos like constant voltage with a decent current flow, and for the supply to not drop too far. I experienced this when my jury-rigged wiring (done for a trip to Fraser) wasn't up to the job, and I had to rewire it properly on the Island.

The only reason the Waeco's stop with inferior cables runs is because they have a voltage protection circuit and this is a compressor thing that all those who share the Danfross compressor face. So yes you need a suitable loom (I use 6mm2) from the battery to the fridge. By reading your thread where you said the comp ran all the time it is not a voltage drop issue (which is indicated by a single flash of the red LED) To run all the time while the temp gauge said one thing and the actual was another means it cold be the Thermister or the Temp sender has come adrift from the fridge or you had it switched to the emergency setting

The compressor ran costantly as it was always trying to get back to temperature.  It started doing it on 240v but also continued on 12v.  The wiring in the car is definately not the problem have checked and has 12.4v or better at the plug.  Iam thinking more along the lines of some sort of thermostat.  The issue is it is working now.  When i take it in they will say working fine because it is.  The moment i leave civilization you can bet it will chuck a hissy fit.

Our 60l waeco is going strong after 5 years of abuse and we've just order 2 35l waecos for the camper. I wasn't aware of the problems with them but will keep my eye out for any issues now. Gotta love forums
