Goodbye Camper Trailer Australia...
« on: April 17, 2012, 11:09:58 PM »
Hey everyone. Firstly, I want to thank all of you who helped me out when I asked, for all of the awesome letters and emails that you've sent in over the years and for letting me be a small part in the big world that lives within this forum.

I recently left my job as editor of Camper Trailer Australia to start on a new adventure.

This August, a new 4WD magazine will hit the shelves, followed closely by something I've wanted to do for a long time, a weekly TV show on all of the things I love. No, not beer and women , although that might be my second show. Like the magazine, it will be about traveling this beautiful country, living the dream, and helping you guys to do it yourself.

Those of you who know me already will know my dedication to quality journalism, excellent photography and an immersive reading experience, not just another product catalogue. With this new magazine, all of that will continue to come first. Expect to see a few familiar faces and a few new ones in the new magazine. It should be awesome and I'm bloody excited!

We'll still have some camper trailers too, so you don't think I've gone all swag snob or anything. For the TV show, I have an awesome co-host who some of you will know already, and I know we're going to have a heck of a time out there in the wilderness. It will be on Foxtel, details coming soon.

The name of the new magazine is 4WD Touring Australia. Look for it on sale this August. I'm going to be back on here with a new username soon. And please be nice to the new editor at Camper Trailer Australia too. I hear he is a nice guy.

Thanks! - Carlisle

Good luck with your new adventure Carlisle.

I guess I won't "see" you again either.  Just can't reason with paying for crap TV when you can get it for free every night of the week.

Have to say that I will miss your editorial rantings.  Your way with words ... Your musical quotes about camping ... Best I've ever read or probably will again.

Hey Carlisle,

Is your TV show going to have any technical segments for example where a viewer or swagger can write in and ask for advice e.g. Mediation of who's right or wrong with camper trailer electrical technical issues.

That would pump the ratings up  >:D

Cheers

Campfire

Campfire,

Sure, mate! We were thinking of doing some camping mythbusters too. A mate of mine says he's always been told you can cool off a can of beer with petrol...

Hey, there will still be plenty of ranting! And I'm working on getting something free-to-air. It's a little more complicated, but we'll get there soon.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

I look forward to doing some cool stuff 'off the chain', to quote another friend.

Carlisle,

A camper trailer & 4x4 mythbusters, what a great idea, that alone would be worth watching for, it would certainly generate alot of forum discussions. I certainly do wish you all the best for that.

Any chance of covering a small section on your tv show for homebuilders of Campers, the home build forum on myswag is my favourite section of all, so many talented people on this site have posted photos and progress reports on campers which have unique designs and a high level of technical quality.

All the Best for the new project and thanks for a great magazine.

Cheers

No need for a new account mate, just let Jules or Brett know what your new handle is and they can change your current account login and user id, or

if your happy to just change the user id, any of the Mods can do that.

All the best with your new venture and safe travels

Jokes aside that would be a great idea.  I subscribe to quite a few 4x4 and camping mags and am yet to see any get the basic terminology right.

Honestly, didn't like CTA so I cancelled my subscription, found that the same stories/product tests were repeated from other magazines from the same publisher plus the same ads.... anyway, that is my opinion.

Carlisle,

Great news about your career. Sounds like a fantastic opportunity.

I am an avid reader as my husband gave me a subscription for my birthday a few years ago & renews it every year too.

Are you sure thats CTA you are thinking about. That seems to be the common complaint about their competition CTT. Just asking thats all?
