Very interesting!

I've got Cooper discoverer ATRs on the back of my Rodeo 4wd and they're chipping at the edges too.  I've got a pair of Firestones on the front and they've been fansastic but, of course, aren't made any more.  I had them on the back too and there was no chipping at all when I replaced them.

I've driven to exactly the same places with the Coopers...makes me think a trip to the dealer may be on the cards and an alternative will be going on the front soon.

I had my ST's replaced under warranty a number of years ago after bad chipping. I am very wary of Coopers and doubt I would ever buy them again.

I called in on the dealer who sold me the Coopers and he took some pics to email to the rep.  I mentioned that the front are up to be replaced soon and would be wary of more Coopers too.

Sorry for a bit of piracy on my part, but it's kind of on topic ;D.

I had Cooper ATRs and then ST-C; both chipped to buggery and started puncturing around the 40k mark. I took them all back to the dealer and ended up on Bridgestone DuraTracs. They are now at 80k and still have life; and they haven't had an easy life with a minimum of 10kms of rocks and dirt a day.
Cheers,

I had set of copper STC on Landcruiser Turbo 79 series about 5 years a go and got 10,000km out of the rear tyres and 10,000 out of a front pair and then 5,000km more on the rear i only just made it home as i had entire lugs falling off and i could see steel belt buy the time i got home. When i asked about if any warranty would be given and was told that it had been driven on a mine site so no. It was only a surface coal mine and I was averaging 1200km every week and only 200km on site every week. Luckily it was a work car so I was not paying for them but I don't think I be running with them again.
