Primus High Output Two Burner
« on: March 20, 2012, 11:25:56 PM »
G'day all,

Been looking about and searching on here, i have used one of these stoves before and found it quite good, wondering if many others have one and what they reckon of it after some long term use. The CT i'm buying has a Drifta DPOR, so this should fit no dramas as it's only a 2 Burner, and i guess i'll have to remove the gas cylinder from the trailer to connect the stove as i believe it will only come with a 1.2mtr hose?

Anyway, and findings or suggestions would be great........

I have one - doesnt fit in the Drifta and be able to close the top. Have to pack it in the slide out box for transit. Ours works well.

Which Drifta do you have?..... I was hoping this would fit the DPOR, so it could remain in place...... ??? Will need to wait until i'm looking at the kitchen in my CT i suppose and do some measuring up.....

dont the primeu have their own gas fittings that are not compatible with the standard bottles or gas fittings as I had one 30 years back that would only take their own brand bottles hoses etc

We've got one of those in a Drifta DPOR. Fits no worries, heaps of room around it. Can put the lid on with it closed, no probs. The shortish ~1m hose with a small regulator screws straight onto the gas bottles we have,no adaptors required. I'm pretty sure we got bottles with POL outlets on them so we didn't need adaptors. I think POL is fairly standard anyway.

Cheers,
Mark

We've got one, very happy with it.  Gets things hot nice and quick; in fact I use it for heating up a saucepan of water rather than the Coleman HWOD as it only take a couple of minutes for it to heat it up.

Regarding the hose, I have been wanting to get a longer one but haven't got around to it yet:

We've got one and love it. It fits in our Drifta DSO no problems - in fact that's one of the reasons we went with this stove.

G'day all,

Thanks for the feedback, it sounds like i should have no worries making it fit........ i guess wherever i buy the stove from i'll grab a couple of gas cylinders and make sure all the connections are the same, while i'm there..... oh and i'll get some measurements before i go in to buy, or better still have the CT parked out the front and try before i buy....... might even knock up a brew before i hand over the folding gear...........  ;D

There must be two models because the one I have, which looks identical to the photo does not fit with the lid closed in the drifta

G'day The Punter,

Maybe the DPO has a different size stove area to the DPOR...........?

Had one of those in a 3 burner model. Sold it and bought a Coleman. They have much better flame control.
Cheers, John.

Is this the low pressure one with the little mini regulator on the hose? If so I have one and it's excellent, it fits my Drifta DPOR fine. The hose needs to be longer but it's acceptable if you place the gas bottle directly under the Drifta. It generates good heat to boil a kettle fast, ignites easily, quite efficient and is very easy to clean.

Cheers
