Hi Rod,
Keeping in mind I have no idea about the price of Hiluxes (other than that they hold their value well like a typical Toyota), I look at your ad and think "$22k for an almost 10yr old dual cab? With the petrol motor?". That's probably a bit harsh, but is my honest initial reaction. Again, may be more representative of my lack of what second-hand hiluxes command in the second hand market.
Obviously what's in your favour is that the car presents very well (that canopy looks a lot better than most), has low kms and looks to have really been taken good care of. The extra fruit on it, unfortunately (as I've just learned myself) doesn't count for much to a prospective buyer (other than The One, that mythical buyer who is holding out for exactly what you've got).
I guess the big question is how long have you had it advertised for, and how quickly do you want/need to offload it? Supply and demand - if you need it gone quicker, drop the price. If you're happy to wait for that mythical One, then keep going as you are.
Don't discount how much difference good photos can make to a car ad, if you've got it on carpoint/carsales. Most people's photos are downright terrible, so you don't need to do much to make your car stand out. Give it a good wash, and take it down to a nearby park (or somewhere wide open, with minimal background distractions) if you haven't already.
If you don't already have it on carpoint/carsales, I'd suggest that too. It's cheap ($60), and stays there for as long as it takes to sell. Likewise, stick big For Sale signs on it and leave it parked out front your work / on a main road somewhere. Just beware of the cops hassling you - I didn't have a problem, but have heard of others getting in trouble for doing that. Most of our inquiries came from carsales and people seeing it out front work - the local paper was a very expensive diversion for us.
Good luck with it - it can be a frustrating process. I thought our little Subaru would have sold quickly, but it ended up taking us almost 3 months and a lot of stuffing around with buyers. Eventually sold for significantly less than the listing price. But getting people interested is the first step, and to do that you need to get it in front of as many eyeballs as possible.
Good luck with the sale!
Matto
