Anyone at Frys Hut last weekend?
« on: March 14, 2012, 11:59:32 AM »
Just wondering if anyone else had copped a dose of the ferals that were there and were eventually kicked out on Sunday by the good old boys in blue  :police:

Do tell.....
We showed up at Kings Hut once, to be met by some bloke leaning on the fence with a rifle... Dunno why he was standing there, his mates were loading dogs in the utes,
needless to say, I had to stop at the toilet there and clean up.

Unfortunately Frys is a bit of a feral magnet.

tunnel Bend is usually much quieter, if you camp right up the end next to the river, youre usually out of the way.

Stayed at davons flat, one upstream from sheepyard flat...

A bit busy, but no close neighbours and quiet too.. I was expecting crowds and ferals, but was pleasantly surprised.

I've wanted to check this area out for a while as we normally come in from the Myrtleford side. Wee arrived there and there were a few camps, some with horses, young kids etc whihc is not an issue for us but there was one large group that had circled the wagons so to speak with quie a few tents ,swags etc. Our group had arrived by 7.30pm and not long after these guys cranked the stereo up that bloody loud it was ridiculous. We put up with it for a while before a camper with horses nearby went over to ask if they could turn it down a bit and stop the "explosions" as they were scaring their horses. No sooner had she turned back another explosion was let off. We thought we could also here fireamrs being let off and that was enough for us so we rang the cops who eventually turned up around 1.30am. Not that it changed things much as soon as they left up it came again.

Now imagine the poor ranger who drove in the next day and he must have been hammered with complaints about them ripping the grass apart by doing circle work etc all at night with them all drunk. We went looking for another spot and ended up at 8 mile for the rest of the weekend. We heard the ranger had pinged some guys at tobacco flat and as he was booking them one of their party snuck around to his vehicle, and broke off one of his valve stems. We had also heard the ferals were having a 21st that night at frys so that made the decision for us to move on.

Apparently Saturday arvo the cops again turned up to see how things were and on sunday theu kicked them out with one cop car stying until they all left. Down the road was the highway patrol waiting for them and to quote " quite a few thousand dollars in fines were handed out to them" Aslo a number of vehicles were either inpounded or put off the road. Needless to say we went home with a smile but I'll never camp there again on a weekend.

Unfortuantly I find that whole area a pain on long weekends, that is why we normally spend another couple of hours travelling to get above the "bogan line" and get higher in the hills

Agree.. It's a shame, its one reason I dont go away on long weekends anymore, scrote factor goes off the scale, but frys is accessable by 2wd which is one of the big issues..

What i have just read is truly heart breaking >:(.

I have been camping up there for the last 27 years which would mean i was 15 years of age when i came across this beautiful part of Victoria. Alot has changed since then, drop toilets, concrete fire rings and the like and this place is special to alot of people.
I have avoided the long weekend show for quite some time now,not because i have come across ferals/D... Heads and the like but because like a lot of us here,we enjoy the quite almost spiritual aspect that this place has. I think its called "Getting back to nature". Anyway this is not the first time i have heard of this type of behaviour up there,I was told that last year a 150 strong rave party with Genni's on the back of trucks was in Sheepyard flat playing their duff, duff music all though the night, lights,DJ,heavy drugs and the works. Am i getting to old? I don't think so. Is there a influx of in breeding? God help us all! These ferals as they have been described here are selfless human beings who should be dealt with appropriately, not just a slap on the hand and here's your fine $$$. How are my and your children going to perceive the acts that these people are displaying? Maybe my 15yo might turn around and say,Dad,do you mind if i don't go this time,i didn't have a good time because i was scared and you were so angry with those other people. I'm not against guns in the bush but not being fired (alleged) within or near campers.
Lets all hope that these people do have a consense and common sense will pervail.
Am i pissed off?, Yes.
Can i stop this type of behaviour? No.
Can we still sit around a camp fire with family and friends, enjoy each others company with drink in hand till the weeee hours?
Thank God its a YES.

Happy camping  to all.

We camped at Burralow Swamp on a normal weekend (well it was the first weekend of the NSW school holidays) for a Fri/Sat night. These bogans rocked up on dark on and the Friday and proceeded to play their music up loud and the style was bearable. Anyway their car battery kept going flat as they had to keep starting the car to put charge back into it. They were not yahooing or anything like that, just loud music till about 10.00pm Another camper did go over and ask them to turn it down which they sort of obliged to.
Anyway Saturday night it rained so it kept the music down a little bit but not much. Their car had to be regulary started to charge the battery.
Needless to say when we packed up o the Sunday morning in the flogging down rain one of them came over and asked to borrow some jumper leads. I had to quickly close my drawbar mounted box to hide my leads whilst I explained that I didn't have any >:D.
Anyway they got some of another camper and drove their 2WD Nissan Pulsar out in the pouring rain. I was amazed they got out actually due to the nature of the track, fairly steep in some parts but mostly largish rocks and ruts so alot of bottoming out.
we passed the ranger on the way out and had a "chat" and explained all the rubbish left was from these guys and the lovley rangerettes (spunks) advised they took down their rego as they passed them just in case ;D
