Other side of the argument, last year when we were doing the Kimberley we arrived at Windjana Gorge and the place was packed. We drove around and finally found a spot and when we were backing up a bloke came over and said he is holding that spot for a friend. There was absolutely no other place left. We had to go into a section reserved for tour groups and set up there. We later spoke to some rangers and explained why we were there and how the only spot we found was being held. They said we would have to move if a tour group wants that spot and they said the practise of holding spots is not allowed, it is totally first in. We were not that happy and also believed because we were there first we should have been able to set up in the spot we first found. It all turned out OK as no tour group came. Just another point of view. Mind you we have held spots for friends but placed chairs there, but not when all other places are full. And I am not sure about the places set aside for tour groups. Some of these areas are large and better maintained, but that is another argument. Kevin
Kev,
In W.A. @ Natioanl parks and reserves, YEP the above apply 100%.
Tried to reserve a site once for our daughter by parking car in location, Rangers quickly sorted that out for us when anothet guy wanted to camp there.
First come, first served is the rule in W.A. and after I became aware of this, used it to my advantage every time. LOL.
