ARB Fridge

HI Guys interested to haear from anyone that has an ARB fridge47ltr (latest model)..

After the good,bad and ugly.

Please do not make this into which brand of fridge is better because its been beaten to death in other threads.

I like the functions of the removeable lid, recessed handles and drainage plug + the 72 can holding capacity
Will be looking at purchasing over the next few weeks at either an ARB store or the camping show at Caulfield.

I bought myself the 60L ARB fridge after my previous one died for the third time.

My reasons were similar to yours, I liked the digital controls, the drain plug, and the recessed handles however the lid catch was probably the #1 thing that swayed the decision.

I previously had a 50L and originally was also looking the the 47L but after seeing the 47 and the 60 side by side, I went for the 60L. Even though the 60L is bigger than the 47L, it is actually a lower profile (longer and wider however) This tuned out to be a big factor as it sits in the back of the trol on top of the drawers and SWMBO is a short @rse 

It has been in there now for ~6 months and I am happy with it and have had no issues with it

Hi Greg, I have a 47 litre and have had no issues in 2 years. In fact I have just ordered a 35 litre one to use as a freezer.

Have the 47 litre one.  No complaints all good. With what positives you have already mentioned there is the controls for it.  Easy to use and in plain view.

Thanks for your comments so far guys. I want the 47ltr because it is a supplement to the 93 Thethford I will have in the Swan OB.. 72 cans in the arb should see me through the weekend  Plus anything more the 47ltr will be too heavy to move with my dodgey back..

Will rig it up to sit just inside the door of the swan while travelling while plugged into camper battery. actions:
windup, open door, Pull out ARB, drink beer, fit bedflies, drink beer, fold out awning, drink beer, marvel at swan, drink beer

Mate 47ltr is currently $1199.. If pushed they will throw in cavas bag.

I have had the 47L one for about a year now, no probs. Another big plus is that it's easy to wipe out when it gets dirty, nice smooth surfaces inside, no nooks and crannies for gunk to get stuck.

Love it, wouldn't buy anything else..

They are good if you sleep near them as they are nice and quite in operation. Cost didn't pay for mine as it was my time for what I could not afford at the time.

I had an Engel with work at the time and the ARB seamed slightly quieter than the Engel. the set and forget temperature is the best feature

I have had my ARB 47L fridge for approx 2 years I am VERY happy with it, the design is well thought. I have been considering a smaller ARB fridge for in the car.

The current ARB fridges have a brighter LED temperature display than the one I have which makes it easier to read in bright light.

Its in the fridge box near my head when we sleep, never heard it at night, mine takes 3.6 - 4.1 amps when running, does not run a lot . I have 2 x 120AH AGM batteries and expect 4-6 days running depending on temperature.

Haggle with ARB on the price I got a ARB hold down kit thrown in and a better price.

I have had the new ARB 47 litre for 3 years now....got it when the new one first came out. Very happy with it, quiet in the car, seems to get good battery life ( less of an issue in the car than camper).

Good points.

Temp display and easy to use controls
Removable lid....easy to remove and replace in seconds..didn't think much of this, but has been useful at times
Drain plug....my son put the milk in upside down and it leaked....empty fridge, pull out plug and hose out...dry! Was pretty easy.

Bad points.....nothing comes to mind.

I have a everkool in the camper and prefer the ARB by a long way...more for design as both perform well.

We have had ours for a couple of years now and just love it. No problems so far. We love how you can open it so easily in the back of the car rather than a side opening variety when travelling. Fits an amazing amount of stuff in it. We are even looking at getting another so we can have one as a fridge and the other as the freezer you won't go wrong with this fridge.

I've got a 47lt ARB and 40L Engel in my ute, I use the ARB as my fridge because the wife loves the fact you can set the temp and forget, and it's easy to see with the Led display.   I like the drain plug,  My ARB has been running non stop in the back of my ute for over a year now with no faults, very happy.  My engel we use as a freezer, so we dont have to juggle the temperature, just turn it down and forget.

I have an 40ltr engel/arb that i've had for about 10 years payed 1100 with cover
run's 24/7 in the garage and still going strong
i no its not a 47 ltr but most of the parts are the same

I have a 47litre ARB and a 40 litre Waeco... The ARB has it over the Waeco in looks and build but the Waeco has it over the ARB in the noise department.. In comparison the ARB is a noisy bugger...  Other than that - great fridge...

I have had the new ARB 47 litre for 3 years now....got it when the new one first came out.

Me too. Love it. Has never missed a beat. Has never mucked up, or left the beers warm.

The downside to the original models is that the thermisistor is hard-attached to the control board. If it goes (which isn't uncommon), then you're up for a big repair. The great news about the new models is that it's now attached via a socket and is an easily replaceable part, which is fantastic.

Father-in-law bought one of the new-model 47L's about a month ago. The white LED display is much brighter and easier to read than the green display on mine. The canvas travel cover is also SIGNIFICANTLY better than the original version.

Other than that, all the original good points (which everyone else has already mentioned) are still there. Fantastic fridge, great on battery, easy to use.

47ltr - the only problem i see with that is it is too small!

Nah, in all seriousness (is that a word?) i have the 78ltr fridge and think it is fantastic! draws a little more than the 47 does. Everything is easily controlled through the digital controls, the temp guide on the front is not accurate according to an external sensor I have to check against it - but it's not out by enough to worry and part of any fridge is the fact it will cycle up and down.

i paid $1400 for mine on special, no bag, no tie down. just the fridge.

ditto to all above. We've had our 47l just on 12 months and reckon it's great. Ours in in the fridge box on the front and must be pretty quiet as we've never noticed it at night. $ wise, I think we paid just under $1100 with tiedowns and cover included.

I run my ARB at 0-1 deg C, just above freezing, keeps beer nice and cold.

Thanks ray, I started at 0c but it didnt seem to get that cold as i put a 1.5ltr coke and a 6 pack of stubbies in. I crnajed it up to -10c at the moment and seems to be o.k... Obviously its depends on what you have in it etc.

I run mine at about 1 or 2 depending how full it is. I did find at that the temp read was not accurate and found out that you can change it. Can't remember the process but it was something like push the button 6 times etc. If you check with ARB they could advise.
If you run at 1C just be careful as some things on the bootom can freeze. I put the meat on the bottom, beer on top.
Well done on the purchase, just keep SWMBO away from it. They always want to fill it with food.

I'm looking at the 60L with our family of four. Is this too big or big enough. I've previously used a 39L which was too small for drinks and food.

Also is the current draw on the 60L much more than the 47L?
