Camping This Weekend?
« on: February 23, 2012, 11:28:36 PM »

Hey,

Just in case you thought camping might be a good idea ... or heading across the Simpson ... or anywhere really but the bottom of WA .. looks like it might get a little wet ...  could be a good time to season any new canvas though.

What do you mean might get a little wet, we have already had 41 mm in the last two days, in two short rainfalls, and there looks like that was the appetiser for what is coming.

Its currently raining here in the bottom part of WA.
Good for my grass and garden......
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Well (finally) predictions so far are (sort of) correct.  It's been raining and windy all day ... still only have 15mm though.  Good for some grass growth I suppose.

Just a wee bit I reckon.  At least 38C is conductive to swimming and drinking I guess.

Been running around in long sleeves and trackies today ... it's that cold!   ;D  This weather isn't making for good camping ... mainly the wind which has been rather strong.  Judging by the DERM site, a few places are not on the list for camping this weekend due to rising creek levels ... Bugger!  That's happened to me twice last year and I really did enjoy the overly late arrival at home.  Boss wasn't so impressed, but got over it.

We were supposed to be doing a weekend of racing...... Not now...... Boat racing maybe? Two gum leaves side by side in the gutter will have to do.

Update:  50mm tipped out this morning.  It's still windier than a farting competition.  The sun is poking it's head out between showers.  I've been told the weather is just perfect to mow ...

I leave at 0600h in the morning with a Mack and 20ton trailer - heading to Cairns and then on to Chillagoe.  At this stage coming home on Thursday.  Looking at the weather forecast it could be an interesting trip  :)

Just returned from our weekend trip to Killalea State Park. This was our first camping trip ever with no rain. Though it did start raining as soon as the cover got on the trailer. Great beach weather in the morning on Saturday, but the wind arrived in the arvo blowing down the annex. This camping trip was only booked a couple days out as I saw the forecast of the first fine weekend in ages. Everyone else had the same idea, as the place was pretty well booked out.

Great Stuff MumOf3.  I'm hoping you do a trip report for us.

Update from here:  Another 27mm for Saturday.  Barely a shower today, wind has died down but still blowing.  Would have been a great day to dry your canvas!  Let's hope next weekend is better for us.

i was at the Springs 4wd Park 25klms South of Warwick for the weekend. Friday night we supposably got 1mm of rain, must have been when i was asleep as i never felt it whilst we sat around the fire that night. good day had Saturday whilst wheeling with no rain to bother us, about 5.00 p.m a few showers started and about 7.30 p.m it rained for a good hour, then after that we were back out sitting around the fire once again  8) 8), apparently they got 5mm at the park on Saturday night.
