Finally bought one!
« on: February 20, 2012, 04:55:59 PM »
Hey guys, my name is Anthony and I'm  to the forum. I have been an avid 4x4er for years, starting in a Jackaroo and progressing my way through a bunch of 4x4's including a hilux, 80 series cruiser, GU Coil cab and now own a GU wagon. I have always "tented" it but got sick of rocking up to a campsite with my mates and being last to have set up. They would have their camper trailer set up and enjoying a cold beer whilst I was still hammering pegs into the ground and fumbling with those stupid bendy tent poles. Anyway I ended up putting a deposit on a brand spanker Offroad deluxe camper from MDC. Its a budget trailer but is built surprisingly well. I ordered a few extra's with it and cant wait to take delivery. I know its only at the cheaper end of the camper trailer scale so I'm not expecting it to be perfect. But I think its going to be a good platform to which I can add some improvements and modifications.

Hey Anthony- I just brought a MDC T BoxV2 on Friday and after building several trailers and horse floats over the years I have found the build/weld quality to be bloody good on mine. I was reluctant to post on these forums after reading a lot of label bashing and reading that a lot of others are well over my price/budget but I am happy with the fact that my family can now go camping with a bit more room and a few luxuries.

Welcome mate.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I look forward to learning and sharing some experiences/knowledge on this forum. The camper is supposed to be ready this week. If I cant find time to pick it up through the week, I'll be heading there on Saturday morning. I can see a weekend of canvas seasoning and list making going on hehe. Exciting times ahead!

I have read a  few bad reports on them too, but from what I can tell most were around 08-09 and not much in between. It seems they have lifted their quality. I have heard through the grapevine ( unsure of truth ) that the trailers were originally a full import but are now built in sydney?

G'day & Welcome.

If you're anyway on the East coast seasoning the canvas could be free and easy for a while  >:D, with all the rain we're having.

G'day & Welcome.

I believe there is a camper to suit every budget. The main thing is that it gets you to where you are going and home again.

I see budget trailers as a Home Handy Mans delight. You can customize it to what you want when you can afford it. and there is nothing wrong with that. I think that's better then spending 40K+ on a CT your too scared to use or get scratched.

The main thing is that you are getting out there.

The day hath cometh! I picked her up today. Unfortunately its miserable weather and I have been advised against opening it up in constant rain before it has been seasoned. So I have already started on an LED strip light project!
