Here in the States, there are a lot of locations you
can not transport firewood into. Mainly because of the
Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, you can have a campfire if you purchase the wood locally within the area you are camping. They are trying to prevent this insect from spreading. It started on the east coast and is working its way across the country. We are located in Missouri (The middle of the country). We don't even haul any wood at all anymore, we use a propane campfire unit. We like it very much and now I don't know if we would ever go back to the traditional campfire anymore. No Smoke, No Sparks and with a flip of the valve, you have a nice warm fire in seconds. Its great, especially on a rainy camp day, we set our propane campfire under the awning, have a cup of hot coffee in front of the fire, kick back and watch it rain...Good Stuff!
Here is the unit we use
Campfire in a Can Just curious, if your having problems with this insect from Asia and what are you using for a portable campfires?
