Access to Blue Waterholes
« on: February 04, 2012, 03:51:18 PM »
Does anybody know if Blue Waterholes fire trail can be accessed from the northern end of Long Plain road (ie from picadilly circus end) or does it need to be accessed from the Snowy mountains highway?

Long Plains Road on the northern end traverses private property with a locked gate.
You can generally get in through Broken Cart Fire Trail although Dubbo Flat was closed last October when we last went through due to wet weather.
Used Boundary Road instead.

Is the northern end of broken cart fire trail open?

Think I might call NPWS before we set off anyway to find out what is open and closed. Looks like we might have to stick to the black top after all.

Cheers

Broken cart fire trail can be fun, especially if wet. Well it was in 08 when I did it last.....

Brindabella Road
Barnett's Road
Boundry Road
Broken Cart FT
Long Plain Road
Blue Water Holes FT

There is a shorter way in that doesn't require access to Private Property and to do Broken Cart, but the tracks are not marked and you just have to "know" where to turn.
