Maco Mule Dual Jockey Wheel Manual
« on: February 02, 2012, 11:38:10 PM »
Gday,

I have just bought a Maco on ebay, without instructions.

The operation seams pretty straight forward,  but as I have a sloping driveway and using it on a 1600Kg trailer I dont want to find out this thing freewheels the hard way.

Can any one supply me operating instructions on the safe use of this wheel on a gently sloping concrete driveway.

I have done a Google search on a manual theres but nothing out there.

Cheers and thanks in advance for any info.

Sav,

I bought a brand new one 10 years ago and it didn't have instructions then.

I have one and use it all the time.

I bought it new and it didn't come with a manual either.

It CANT freewheel.
Even in the unlikely event one of the locks breaks, there is on on each wheel so it won't budge.

Just click the lock in the direction you want to go and it will only ratchet in that direction.
It exactly like the gear wheel and lock on a boat winch, but theres 2 of them................

Very simple and easy to use. Very Very effect.

I've tried just about everything on the market to move my Jayco, even send my camper trolley back.
The mule just works..........

Cheers

Really depends on the slope and the type of ground Les.

Hi
You will find it will roll away on you when the handle is down, but will brake when it is in the upright position. Don't trust anything on a steep slope hook it up to the car. They are a great piece of equipment but don't expect it to push a heavy camper up a steep driveway or you will get to know your neighbour across the road sooner then later.

Peter.

Hello Everyone

Not sure if anyone still interested in some answers.  I only just found this site and messages whilst looking for Something else.

Yes all New Maco Mules come with instructions its a white piece of paper with blue printing.

the Maco can free wheel in the direction you are heading just do a half ratchet and hold the handle to prevent it finishing
the motion you can than push etc to free wheel. When handle is up or down brake is engaged.

Both the Single and Dual work on slopes BUT we always recommend especially if coming down a slope to use caravan brakes and chock  wheels common sense as with anything is always your best friend!

the brake on the Maco will slow down a runaway van etc hopefully giving the user time to get out of the way if they have fallen down and hopefully get the chance to engage the Van breaks before visiting your neighbours in an untimely manner.

Recommend Single mule for single Axle vans and Dual Mule for Dual Axle vans.

Please in the future do not hesitate to contact the Manufacturers at admin@metalfabricators.net.au if you have any questions queries or need new instruction.

Love your Maco and your Maco will love you!

Cheers

Debra

I know this is an old topic, but to what height do the Maco Mule (Dual wheels) wind up to?

For example, the Alko power mover winds up to 840mm.

Thanks
