This one?

Thats some overhang!

Actually dont be too hard on it.  I think its got the optional "bolt an anti aircraft gun in the back" option.

They seem to need this from time to time;

My alternative to cheap import trailers;

Yes I still shake my head every time I think of that wheel track difference. It's a reason I thought I'd never to buy one of the new models...but you know what they say...never say never, yeah we ended up with an '08 Troopy.

Funny thing is that it's not just the wheel track, thanks to that new v8 engine and thanks to the fact that it's the model before they upgraded the dash to the new style, first thing I noticed is that it's very evident that they've just bunged the old dash into this new car with noticeable gaps between end of dash and where the door is! Obviously too hard to make it that little bit wider! Another head shaker from Toyota considering the price you pay!

So I wouldn't be surprised really if the new dual cab turns out to be a head shaker in one way or another!

I went to the Toyota dealer today and askedthe saleslady about te twin cab troopy and she said no they are not coming to Oz. she then asks the manager and he says yes, later in the year. I said how much and he said that they are running bets on it because nobody knows. However ball park figure is around the 80+k mark

Thx 99disco for spotting the correct doner truck. Obviously don't know my 70 series. I guess no intercooler scoop should have been obvious!

Still, gives a good idea of what the canopy may look like...

I heard this dual cab rumour about 4 weeks ago. Also possibly a diesel Rav 4.

I'm pretty sure, but not 100%, that the diesel RAV has been out for a while and available in the UK.

If it makes it here it will be on my list as a second car.  ;D

Those arb pics are not of a new v8 cruiser. It's an old six cyl that's been converted to dual cab by the looks it's even got Bfg km1 MUDs on it that are no longer available.

If they are pinning this new Duel Cab on sales from the mining boom then it wont happen. BMA has release that all new vehicles have to be NCAP 5 Star rated with a two year grace period for the change. So bye bye 70 series Dual Cab, you were a nice dream.

But demand for Armaroks, BT50's and Rangers in white has now gone through the roof!
Cheers

Rio Tinto has quite a few duel cab 70 series utes running around on its Pilbara mines, so they might take a few of them as it would save some $$$ getting them built.

BMA is BHP isnt it? Theres plently of other mining companies around that dont go anywhere as extreme as BHP in regards to some safety items. Rio dosent even need ROP hoops in 4wds from what I've seen ;D So I image they will continue to buy them for some years to come

Landrover defender has a factory dual cab, the interior and road handling characterisitcs are more agricultural though.

@ brett - there has been talk of NCAP compiance for many years, however, each time they field test non-commercial vehicles, the finding is that they are not really built to stand up to the task. Strict speed limits <80kms have been inforce on most sites for a few years because of this.

I asked the Toyota dealer we buy our vehicles about this about a month ago and was told the dual cab 70 series is on its way. I was in there yesterday and asked again. I was told it is 100% definitely coming out late this year. Other than that they knew less than me, but I'll be getting one ;D

$80k ??? for a cab chassis - I doubt it.
My money is they will be similar priced similar to the 76 series.

That report suggests is shares the same wheel base as the 79 single cab, hence the over hanging tray.

I agree it looks a little out of balance, but with a lift and bigger Tyres it would be nice.

http://www.themotorreport.com.au/53674/2013-toyota-landcruiser-70-series-dual-cab

Still looks stupidly long between axles.

They are not pictures.  I would be surprised if it looks like that as the wheelbase is out of scale when you compare it to a single cab.  I would expect some kind of cutaway at the back of the cab would be required if the current wheelbase is maintained.  Overhang looks silly but nothing that could not be fixed with a custom tray 300- 600mm shorter.

If they offered it as a coil all around option, then we could start talking about it being a seriously good touring wagon.
