Probably not.

But the integrated annex floor and storm-flap under the back door is a mistake.  Good luck to them..

If you mean under the tailgate, I'm fairly certain it is velcro'd on to the floor, or so the salesman in Perth told me yesterday.

From the pictures the Market Direct version of the Lifestyle Extenda Elite, didn't appear to have a kitchen, or twelve volt system. The fine print says it comes without a mattress? Seems to be a few shortcuts with the wiring for the lights not being threaded through the chassis but between the chassis and the underbody?

$6000 is a big saving though.

I wonder if Lifestyle had some sort of patent or copyright on their trailer, obviously not?

Had a look at it in the flesh today.

Quality seems ok. Even the boarding ladder for the extenda part is identical to the Lifestyle.

Tent is the Chinese style ripstop type (with the little squares).

Would you be ok with buying one for that price?

As I'm not going to be able to touch one until the Perth Show in March, I guess what I'm asking is anyone or everyone that has time, if you could drop in and have a look at it and give me a first hand eyeball pro's/cons report, be totally honest, at that price I don't mind rerunning cables, replacing Tek screws with bolts, replacing the dust seals etc. I'd even look at getting a custom Aussie Canvas Tent made to suit.

Fun Police, if you want me to start this in a separate thread let me know or a mod to split it off.

Me? Probably not with the Chinese tent.

I had a real good look at them and think they suck.

So them you'll be up for $4k for a decent tent (from Bell etc), so that $6k looks more like $2k IMO

So for you, if the tent was taken out of the equation the trailer looks sound enough?

$2k is better in my pocket than not  ;D

Just my observation and i could be wrong...... but are some of the so called extenders the same 7 x 4 box & chassis they offer but with a walk way tagged to the front........ I say this because some of the units out there appear to not really have the axle central to the overall length of the box section.....  if that makes sense??

True.

I didn't have a huge look at the trailer, but what I saw looked ok. I think you would need to go over it carefully and see if any other corners were cut

We are just getting Great Aussie  to do the basic trailer wiring and 12V outlets back to a Baintech fuse block.

Then, I'll be fitting my Ctek 7A 240/12V charger (from my now sold boat) and a Projecta/Ctek 12v solar/charger plus 2 x 80AH Remco AGM's (when money permits).

That'll give me a reasonable setup once coupled with a 120-160W solar panel.

The trailer will have no onboard 240V AC. Just provision for an inverter in the future.

When we're in a van park we'll use extension cords and a portable ELCB box

In the metal box near the walkway. I think it all just fits with the 2x80Ah batteries in place.

This is the box on the drivers side to ensure the batteries are away from the sleeping area. Just in case.

We bought a Mountain Trail Camper extended Expedition in 2009. We've taken it to Fraser Island, through The Kimberley, and we're off to Cape York in it this year. We couldn't be happier. Nick is also great to deal with and they are very well made.

I can't imagine having a camper now without the stairs and storage at the end of the bed.

Some are, some are not.  My early version Lifestyle Extenda has the box section tacked on the front and wheels located for just the normal 7x4 box, but later versions had it more central.

Thanks Dion,

Maybe it's the first of some of the current models i've seen...... i guess the makers wanted to see if the concept was a big seller, before they went full on with the redisign....... probably explains a few things..

Mine is an end-2010 and it definitely has a more centred axle compensating for the extra length trailer overall. Think of the walkway as being added onto an extended drawbar of a normal trailer. Approach/Ramp-over/Departure angles are appropriate for the trailer's length I reckon..

Yep.  Great Aussie Campers.

When? Don't know. Just waiting on a price back from them, we only sent through our requirements yesterday.

After we pay the deposit   I believe  it is about 6 weeks or so after that.

So all things going well around end of April or so. TBA!
