Absolutely,

I love rallying, especially the WRC, but the Dakar is the pinnacle.

So dissapointed, even on the net they only show 30 min.

There is a local going over to race as well.

I used to race bikes with this fellow, and also some of his team.

Yes 30 minutes is not enough for such a great event .

Did you see last year's winner is in a Hummer .....

One of the cars making its debut at the Dakar will be the Mini ALL4 Racing by the X-Raid team. They are entering five of these new rally cars which feature a 315-hp, 3.0-liter diesel engine. The all-wheel drive ALL4 is based on the new Mini Countryman.

They look like a bunch of M & M's to me ....

Pay TV coverage is on SPEED (channel 505 Foxtel) @ 7pm. Same 1/2 hour as SBS by the looks of it.
Cheers, John.

The mini debuted last year but was written off doing promo work on the rest day. I see VW have pulled out for this year which might make things interesting for the rest. I still don't think Hummer will be up the front even with Nassar at the wheel.
That link about Geoff Olholm was from last years event.

The link about Geoff is from last year, the local news interviewed him last week though just before flying out for this years race.
Lost when I meant local I meant local to me here in North Qld, I should have been more specific I think.

Just reading through the starters list... 6 aussie riders and only 1 aussie driver from what I can see.
Unfortunately someone has already died. Not good. I wonder if it was the crash that caused his heart attack or if his heart attack caused his crash?

another unfortunate :(

Quote
French racer Sebastien Coue was found unconscious over the Nihuil dunes in a severe state of hyperthermia while riding his motorcycle on the third day of the Dakar Rally.

Paramedics conducted a search for the driver lasted several hours. Once found, he was immediately taken to Schestakow Hospital.

The health centre’s director, Armando Dauverné said that Coue arrived “with a critical state of hyperthermia,” with his body temperature over 40°C.

He added that he still doesn’t know for how long the racer was lying unconscious in the sun.
