Goldstream shakedown trip
« on: December 30, 2011, 07:57:04 PM »
I've just returned from a 5 day bush trip with the new baby off the family (goldstream storm). Although it was basic camping (drop toilets and little else) it was excellent. There are a couple of things that I'd like to change / alter. Some observations.
1. The tank refiller hose is not fixed, inside the gs I managed to disconnect the filler cap from the filler pipe, subsequently flooding the gold stream. Easy fix but an annoyance since not securely fixed.
2. Managed to rip the fiamma awning due to strong gust of unpredictable wind (note to self must not leave unattended when fishing / having a beer on the beach.) new vinyl required.
3. Sinkncover will not stay open. Fixed with bungee cord.

New requirements (in consultation with minister for finance and well being). Any advice welcome on how too, where to in Perth.
1. Second 60 liter tank- where the best place to put this? How do you connect to existing tanks and plumbing?
2. Additional external hand water pump for dog water etc? Thinking drawer bar on the right hand side out of the way.
3. Stone guard a must! Thanks D4D will also look at the goldstream supplied option.
4. Solar shower a must!
5. Solar panels a must!
6. BBQ
7. Additional internal 12v sockets. Where do you put these? One perhaps for a 12v fan?
8. Led lighting

Anything else really necessary?  :D

The water filler seems to be a common problem... http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=9403.0

I was just about to say I've heard the water filler issue before...

I added some extra 12V sockets to mine. I have a block of wood liquid nailed behind the wood, if that makes sense. so it is pretty solid.

BBQ get a WeberQ

I found the 80L tank will fit in the same place as the current 60, it is just a little wider. That plus 40L on the bumper is a lot of water.

I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go…

Here you go, you can see how I stuck a piece of wood on the inside then screwed the socket into that. The wiring I ran to the 12V feed from the charger to the battery. That one was pretty simple.

Thx, went down to supa cheap today - 20% off everything but a lot of folks obviously has the same idea, all 12 volt sockets sold out. Buggy. ;D

Still managed to spend a whack tho on other 'interesting camper related items.
