Good one Spida!...
« on: December 25, 2011, 10:24:20 PM »
Just heard Spida Everitt sharing some of his viewers' tips on travelling "The Great Outdoors". Sent in by Mrs xxxxx was the gem "On dirt roads be sure to increase tyre pressures".

Stick to footy Spida.  >:D >:D

Cheers,

Cam

You hear that said a lot. Came across a couple this year on their first outback trip and their tyre retailer had told them the same thing. Said it would protect the side walls.

to me
HELLO TONY!
Yes, well didn’t we learn our lesson about taking ‘Viewers Tips’ to air. The gentleman who sent that tip in, including a whole story about his wonderful and professional expertise in the area, clearly turned out to be false, as we very quickly learnt, about 6 weeks after filming that segment!  We rely on our viewers to be honest and thoughtful, however we indeed learnt our lesson.

We have already filmed a full segment on this in Series 5, which will air the second weekend in July this year.

Thank you for your email!

Got the same e-mail back from them the other day. Wonder how many people they had to send that out to.

A few I'd reckon. A heap of people wrote to them pointing out their mistake.

I would've thought if someone was going to run a show, they'd at least have someone 'of authority' on board!!!

what cocerned me just as much was the advice about carrying stubbies in the esky. "if a stubby breaks you can always remove the bung from the bottom of the esky and drink the watered down beer in the bottom. sometimes a bit of blood from the meat leaks and mixes with the beer, but if you are desperate it is better than nothing ......."

WTF  is that f*cking desperate for a beer ....... hey I love a beer as much as the next guy , but Im not drinking beer/meat blood ... :S

How about they just have the experience to give their own tips instead of relying on others!  There was no excuse for that going to air it is common knowledge that anyone with some clue who does a bit of travelling would have picked up as false ???.  Watch out for the snatching from towballs lesson in the next series >:D
