Hi all
« on: November 11, 2011, 01:25:15 PM »
Hi all. We are a young family of 5, (3 kids under 6), 1 cat and 3 chickens.

Currently have a very unbush worthy VW Passat and 1977 Jayco Dove.

I think its about time to trade most of it in and teach the kids how much fun you can have in the bush...without the bloody TV!

So looking at some suitable cars tomorrow that have all the airbags and no DVD players. After that the discussions with my wife will begin on what will replace the van....CT or popup.

cheers

Jim and the family.

Gday all,

First timer here. In the hunt for my first CT and spending every chance I get trying to gather as much info as I can. So far, I can't believe how many dealers are out there and how much the price varies...And that's just for the brand new ones. A few things are a must, though i.e. locally built off-road with plumbed gas and water to a kitchen with gas stove and proper sink ( no plastic tub... so says the missus ). The brands I like so far are Johnno's Off-Road Deluxe and Aussie Jay's Big Red. If anyone's got some tips or can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks and who knows, I might bump into you at Bendigo Leisurefest next weekend... Cheers

Hi all, thanks for the nice welcome... New to this online forum caper, too, and still trying to figure it all out ( might have to get my 14yo daughter to help )... Dropped in to Aussie Jays last night and I have to say, VERY impressed. Construction, features, attention to detail, tent and, especially, price. I haven't committed yet because I want to check out a few more brands ( just to be sure ) but I'd be surprised if I could find a package that could top Jason's Big Red... I'll keep you posted

Welcome guys,
It's a learning curve alright.
I agree with Grizzly, when our three were younger, an in-car DVD head rest twin set, was a God-sent. On long trips and even short ones for that matter, Now that they are older they have their DS's & Ipod Touch's.
We have a couple rules, now that they are 13,11 & 9. The middle one gets to lean on either of the other ones that have a door to lean on to go to sleep.. No pushing knees or feet into the back of the seat in front and earphones must be worn. If a drink is to be gotten out of the fridge in the back, ask everyone if they would like theirs.
We have just completed a 30 day 6600km trip and it can get a bit, oh well, we made it  ;D

You don't use magic to disappear, all you need is a 4wd & a Swag ;)
