I'm sure this will be deleted or locked anyway. We cant have dissent.
The fact this thread has now gone for 5 pages would disprove that theory.
I find it interesting with the amount of 'stick it to the man' types of posts here. Considering they are directed to the admin team who are not paid, and receive no other compensation for what they do, apart from a feeling that they are at least contributing in a small way to the success of the site.
I also find it particularly interesting that it seems fashionable to stick it to Brett, the guy who created this site in good faith, and pays for the running costs of this site from his own pocket. Did you happen to notice there is no in-your-face commercial advertising on this site as opposed to others? That is because Brett wears the costs. He does this without complaint. But it is OK to have a whinge about a simple request he makes?
Of course this does not mean the admins are above reproach, sure we make mistakes (we are human after all). As the one who looks after the electrical section I am sure everyone is aware how challenging it is to keep things in line. After a thread lock I usually get at least 5 PM's either supporting or condemning my action. I have at times reversed my decision after receiving feedback, and I am sure other moderators have done the same. It is this feedback that I welcome and I believe it makes me better at looking after things.
This leads me into saying it is the members that make this site what it is, not the admins. With the exception of the electrical section this forum has the most 'hands off' moderation of any forum I've been involved in. This allows the members to dictate the direction in which the forum takes, and which is exactly the way I see it currently works.
I now sit back and scratch my head when I see threads like these that go on about heavy handed admins.... are we really that bad?
