We've recently picked up a new Vacation CT - couldn't be more happy with it. You'll find them in Virginia.

Other than that, I'm with earle - Customline and Jimboomba are both worth a look.  Lifestyle campers are in the same street as Trackabout.

Customline = 112 Harburg Drive, Beenleigh, 4207
Jimboomba = 86-89 Anders St, Jimboomba Queensland 4280

Beenleigh would be about 15min down the coast from slacks creek, at a guess and couldnt tell you about Jimboomba, never go out that way

If you would like to see a Camprite, they have a Rep down at Suffolk Park (near Byron), who is quite happy to get his TL8s out and give you the rundown of it. Great guy to deal with and sealed us the deal to get one.  We head off on our 6-9 month around Oz trip in our Camprite May next year with 2 x kids aged 4 & 2.

Im also with Earle - take a look at Customline, we love ours.  They have just released their walk up model.

Also depends on budget, hard/soft floor etc on which one's you should narrow them down to.

Good luck it sounds like fun.  Look forward to hearing about how you get on and what your picks are narrowed down to.

After you have seen and visited the rest go to Lifestyle and look at the extenda. You will be sold as soon as you see it. And a bit cheaper than the rest.

Hi Frogman - gee you ask a hard question.

It all depends on your budget and what style of travel you will be doing. How many in the family?

Our choice came down to understanding that we do long distance travel with a goal/ destination in mind, so we will be travelling every day and setting up every night for a fair part of the trip. This means a hard floor - quick and easy, ours takes 8 minutes.

We also travel severe offroad as much as possible. This means a well built and rugged unit with fantastic suspension - we wanted independent coil. We also wanted the ability to stay remote for up to two weeks - this meant great storage, good water and gas supply, solar power and an anderson plug charge from the cruiser.

We travel with a wife and two younger children - this meant a queen size comfortable innerspring, pumped hot water and a shower.

We needed an on-board fridge freezer to compliment the Engel in the cruiser. We needed almost perfect dust sealing. The only unit we found to meet all of these requirements was the Australian Offroad Camper Odyssey Export Signature at Caloundra - 60 minutes north of Brisbane.

We checked all others out at the Sandown show in Melbourne and nothing came close in build quality (my background is engineering and fabrication) and support/ backup.

Most importantly was the speed of set up. After a long day's driving - you don't want to spend an hour erecting a tent. The AOC Oddy has a quick 'instant' awning for overnight stops. We have it down to 8-10 minutes before the first beer or wine. The kitchen is a masterpiece.
After three years of travelling around Australia with this unit, it has never failed or broken, and even today I have found nothing that I would replace it with....

I'm with hseq - if you are heading down to Brisbane, detour into Caloundra and visit Australian Offroad Campers.  Even if the Odyssey is outside your price range you will at least see what a well designed and built camper can look like and what sort of features are available.  We've had ours for 4 years now and haven't seen anything we'd swap it in for (except perhaps an AORC Quantum!).
Camping is great as long as the mattress is inner spring!

Hi Frogman,

You'll need a car - don't know if you're driving down, but if you're flying in it would potentially be worth hiring a car to get around them all. Not much by the way of public transport on the south side of Bris.

It would probably also pay to contact the people you want to see, and see when they'll be open to on a Saturday. Most places I think are only open in the morning, and you'll really want at least an hour at each place to get a good idea.

Alternatively, just go straight to Trackabout and sign up for one there, then head to the pub for a beer with JT.  ;D ;D

Good luck!
Matto :)
