some post offices only the facility to scan items in, you may find the next time it is scanned is your house. Australia post really lack in this department, wait till you need to chase it up. this is when australia post go from bad to worse.

DHL, EMS and other international companys from around the world are awesome with there tracking, time for AUSPOST to update.

Express post from Brisbane to Newman WA can take 2 weeks! WTF! All of the mail is sent up on Qantas on one of the 4 flights a day.

Regular post to Newman can take upto a month! Crazy!

Posting from Newman.... Well walking it to your destination (even to the other side of the country) is definitely quicker!

Bit off topic but Toyota aren't much better, ordered a part from Dandy (Melb) 5 working days to come from Syd warehouse.  >:(  Think I could have rode a push bike faster, and then someone went on strike so that went to 7 days. They probably use oZ post, Pretty pi$$ pore in this day and age.

Years ago before my accident, I went to buy a new Camry from a joint in Sutherland (dunno why)... after being told day after day for over a week that it "Was on a truck from Melbourne", the salesmans face nearly fell off when I told him I'd done several Syd-Melb-Syd trips in my truck since I ordered it, and hadnt seen any broken down car carriers on the side of the road..Told em I didn't want it. Miracle by miracle - it *somehow* showed up EVEN REGISTERED 1 hour later, pre delivered, washed, detailed, extras added - all in 1 hour... Still told em to ram it in their anus...

P.S.  Also remember paying $2.01 a litre for unleaded at the 5 ways back in 1997 when Darwin-ites were paying $0.84 and BrisVegans were paying $0.63.  Ye Gods ... what would it be now??   ;D

Ok, Remember Bruce, you started this.

1973, posted a personal cheque in Frankston to deliver to Central Motors Lonsdale Street, Dandenong.
Payment for a service on my vehicle. 27Klm. apart.
It turned up 30+ days later, with an ENGLISH postmark and "par avion" stickers on it.
The owner, Allan Davis, never doubted me again when I said, "The cheque is in the mail."
True story.

I sent a parcel to China early Feb. I'm sure it'll arrive soon.

And its not just delivery times thats the problem with Aust Post..... I ordered a bike bag from the UK...cost $135 delivered.... and delivered by Aust Post. I used it once and the zip broke so contacted the shop and covered under warranty but I had to send it back to UK.... re packed it,went to Aust Post and was told its to big to post....explained that they delivered it and was told that Aust size and weight policies are different to other countries and they can deliver items bigger than they can accept for delivery... it was only just oversized and after a brief discussion they decided to accept it....cost $180 to post back. I passed and spent $20 getting a new zip fitted.
Same post office and I went to send a $10 strap that I had sold, post office said its not a letter so wanted to charged parcel rate of $12....went to another post office and they sent it as mail. Have not been back to that post office again

Just thank your lucky stars you weren't waiting on a back order from Toyota Japan when the Tsunami hit  :'(

Speaking of snail mail, I've noticed fleabay orders from China/Hong Kong are taking a lot longer nowadays. More around 3-4+ weeks instead of 2-3 I was used to. So much so I was blown away when a solder sucker rolled up in 10 days recently. Mind you how these commies do it for the price is beyond this old capitalist oppressor of the working classes.
There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

I used to work for Aus post. Express post is virtually non existent from anywhere in WA is you are sending it to eastern states.
The dream - to travel like a snail with my home behind me, seeing every inch of Australia.

Life is a gift and too short to waste.
