What do you think?
« on: October 21, 2011, 11:31:02 PM »
Okay so we are all new to this :) we are planning on buying our 1st camper - jayco eagle outback. We have decided on some extras but not sure if we have covered everything? We thought we would get,
Jayco bag awning and annexe
Bed fly ends
Microwave
Anderson plug
Extra watertank
Club lounge converter
Extra gas bottle
100amp battery
Control panel
Shelves in cupboard
External shower with hot water service
Pole carrier
Trig hitch

So is there anything else you think we should get? Or anything you would do without?
Axle upgrade

Its been discussed at length before, but I wouldn't go without the extended drawbar.

It makes overnighters very easy. No unhitching. You can also access the back of the car when the campers up.

Also, not sure if they now come with them, but if not get a water pump.

Good luck with it,
Brian

given that you are going for a microwave, why didn't you just go for the Swan ?

This applies to any brand of camper. Unhitching/hitching quickly becomes VERY tedious when you're on the move.....

Thanks guys, yeah we are thinking we will go the extended drawbar, we are going to have a look next week & hook our car up & see if we can put it up whilst hooked up, but I'm thinking for the future if we change 4x4s it might be safer to get extended drawbar.

We like the layout of the eagle over the swan, that plus the swan is like $4000 dearer!

We are putting a deposit down tomorrow! Eeek I'm nervous, but excited. The deal is too good to pass up though!

Nice option list Mama ;D
Make sure you ask them to get your payload upped because by the time you fill both those water tanks there won't be much left for everything else

Pretty much have it covered, though I'd suggest thinking about having a look at the Aussie Traveller Coolabah Awning instead of the bag, alittle more pricey but well worth it.

Hi thanks :) do you mean the axle upgrade? Cause we have done that too.

Now just to decide whether to get the trig hitch and the extended drawbar or just stick with the normal tow ball? So many decisions!

Yes well we are also tossing up between the standard jayco awning and annexe or the Kakadu one? We won't be using it much at all so not sure whether we want to spend the extra $850

The axle upgrade is automatically done when you order an extra tank in most cases, the payload is not so make sure you ask for it

Thanks Lost, so I read through your link, but I'm still a little confused, what do they actually do to the camper to up the payload? I would have thought with a brand new camper getting fitted with all the options from them would automatically be right to go???
