Gotta Love the KKK
« on: October 13, 2011, 10:20:30 PM »
Got back from a trip last week & parked the Kamper for the night.
Went out the next day to unpack & clean her & was visited by the Kimberly Kamper Kookaburra  ;D
What a beautiful creature they are  :cup:

Hands up everyone who thought I was a Redneck Bigot  >:D

Cheers

We had a chat about them camping earlier this year... it seemed they were round a hell of a lot more when I was a kid, rarely see them these days... wouldnt have anything to do with all the bush being bulldozed... :(

It is certainly something I miss from my childhood, kookas laughing in the trees.
We actually had one on our TV antenna the other week looking lonely. Also up until about 6 months ago we had black cockatoos fly overhead in north western Sydney (Kellyville area)

It's actually the opposite here, we've got more Kookaburras here this year than I can recall in the past  ???
I just assumed they relocated here after Cyclone Yasi destroyed so much bush up this way.
Who knows but there welcome to stay here as long as they wish  :cup:

Cheers

I thought this was a thread about Kookuburras?  ;D

</grammar nazi>

Great photos ferret - love the last one : "What are you doing in my carport?"

We've got a few of them that live around our place, but we very rarely see them in our yard for some reason. Growing up in Toowoomba, we always had heaps of them. Like MDS, hearing them laughing is something that I miss. Dad still has a family that he feed kangaroo meat - they're quite quiet, but won't let you pat them (unlike the possums).

We had this fellow stick around when we were at Granite Gorge last.

Thanks!
Matto :)

I know it's O.T. but we have a resident "pair" of plovers with 2 babies that wander up & down our street on their way to & from the park; we live in suburban Brisbane. When I was a kid (when dinosaurs roamed the earth), plovers with babies would attack you if you ventured within 500 yards of the nest (wasn't metric then) but these two will let you walk by within 5 meters (metric now). I guess they are in much more contact with humans as I grew up on a 3000 acre (non metric) property, nearest neighbour 2 miles away. How things can change with the environment they live in. They started out with 4 babies but now down to two probably due to cars running over them. Bossiest parents I have ever seen, if the littlies get out of line they get a stern talking to.
