Soft floor hard floor

What's the best time people are setting their soft floors up in? Are there many that can be done with ease by yourself. The last time I hired a soft floor it almost took three people to set it up. I notice watching some hard floor setups that there is still a bit involved to set them up. Plse give me names of campers for ease.

Hi, after spending three weeks in our camper (Jimboomba Maddison Staircase offroad) we averaged about 10 mins for tent and kitchen setup, add 10 -15 if annexe put up. Probably around half hour to pack up which included other gear that needed to be put in the ute. We camp with friends in summer who have a Kimberley Platinum and he only beats me by a couple of mouthfulls :cheers:

I can have the Tambo, tent up in around 10 from pulling up, and extra 15 for the annex with two walls and kitchen out. Pack up is a little longer if you want it all folded up neat. This is setting up with no help, if the kids help you can add up to 20 minutes to the job.

With our soft floor, open with kitchen out, 10min, add the awnning 15min, our awning is attached permenently, so it's only a matter of dragging it over and 3 poles, we usually don't bother for overnighters.

On our Cape and Gulf trip we had it down too, 10 to 15min open and a 20min pack up.

Hard floor campers are always going to be quicker if only opening the camper, but from there on, they are about the same, so for overnighters the hard floor wins hands down.

Hopefully when I buy mine it will just be the simple one room setup. Don't want all those added on rooms and awnings. Still trying to convince the handbrake though. I'll just have to keep entering comps for now and doing the research for when we do buy, to make our choice easier.

From the time the trailer is unhitched sittin there waiting, to set up in a way you can sleep in <5mins. but that is only 1 pole + 1 spreader.. if you want all 6 poles nice straight walls lookin tidy with pegs in ground it adds another 10mins.
theres a vid on their website of 1 min setup but everything is presetup to give quick time - pegs on ground ready to put in etc

Awning etc is another world of hurt timewise... but surely you wouldnt get a trailer without an awning... what you going to cook under in rain and wind etc?

Soft Floor - Camper body 10 min. Kitchen, awning etc 20min on a good (kids behaving) run.

You can't beat the 30 Second Tents.
These things make camper trailers look teadious time consuming heavy pieces of *hit.

They are heavy pieces of pooh, but a necessary evil. I seriously hate towing it, any non driven axle is nothing but a hindrance in my opinion!

15 Mins the lot, awning,kitchen,gas e.t.c. Lots of practice got me to this point. I can remember the first time I got my camper 30mins+  ;D

first time was 45min. This was with 1 annexe and a few ropes.  Now it's about 10 - 15, don't use all the roof rails etc. If we are there for a couple of days, a few food boxes, cleaning gear etc all under cover is plus 10.  This type of full pack up is around 30 min.

We have a Kimberly Hard floor. <5 min's for an over night stay including full access to kitchen. Add 10 for the awning roof only, and 30-40min for the full set up with all the walls etc etc. As lost said the annex and all the bits are a world of hurt time wise. We only use them for exyended stays or in crap weather.

I can get our Trackabout (10ft tent, on the Extenda) up in about 10-15 mins by myself, inc kitchen, pegs, everything. Once you've done it a few times, it's ridiculous how quick you can do it. Awning is tricky by yourself, but again, once you've done it a couple of times you figure out all the tricks and it's really not a problem.

Last time I was down on the gold coast I was chatting to JT, and he gave me a tip on how to shave another couple of minutes off the setup, and achieve a better result to boot. So whichever way you go, pay a lot of attention during the handover demo, and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.

We just did 3 weeks through central australia, setting up 19 times. We have a Cameron Concept. No pegs or guy ropes. Framed dust cover is lifted off trailer to become cover over kitchen. Kids helped with setup most days. About 5-10 mins to setup. It was really as easy as this:

Matto, I have a trackabout myself.  I got the normal debrief from JT on delivery, but would you care to share the extra tricks you picked up?  :cheers:
