Bussoboy
Their are about 60 vacant positions last I heard for field staff ( the people who clean, dig, repair, build, kill weeds, ferals etc)and they have been vacant for a couple of years now, apparently their is no rush to fill them cost saving exercise (bugger the above listed work), and the pay for most of us is below the national average. If you are keen and willing to do bushfire mitigation work their will probably be some jobs coming up but only for a 3 year term to start with Commonwealth funded doing similar work as the RFS crews, keep your eye out as they will be across the state unless filled internally

was at Newnes for the first time this weekend.........Loved it, maybe only a dozen other campers there, even their kids kept quiet. we got in when it was dark so didn't see the 4wd only side until the next morning, but if we had gone over that side we would of been having it almost to ourselves (1 other camper)

You could see the telltale signs of people doing donuts in the grass etc etc, but all in all very clean and can't wait to go back and relax some more

Personally, I have not had too many bad experiences whilst camping in national parks, apart from the doof doof every so often. I don't think it is up to the Park Ranger to be a security guard though. Some of these ferals are just looking for conflict and do not care about anyone or anything but themselves.

I think that the camping rate of $4.50 pp/pn in Queensland to be low and has stayed at this level for a long time. Maybe it should be higher during peak yobbo season to keep a few away and maybe provide some regular security runs through the parks?

NP's & SF's are now $5.30 pppn ... were $5 about a year ago then went to $5.15 a few months ago, but looks like it's been hit with a Carbon Tax early.

HI all I have to agree the rangers job is a tough one and not all trouble makers are bogans.A few years ago on Frazer Is in the camping ground we were staying this lady had pulled the ranger aside to complain about the state of the shower toilet block sand on floor etc .He was trying to explane his men were out fighting a fire which was heading towards the camping ground we were staying in. Would not have a bar of it would she. It,s funny (not) but same lady and hubby where cleaning under size Dart on a pinic table the day before then walking off leaving blood and scales behind. My point is not all bogans look like bogans have a lift and loud exhaust.tinkera.
