well it will either be a falcondore or a a commonwhore

I use to go every year and loved bathurst but now they are driving the same cars it's a tad boring

on tv today they had some old footage of brock on the mouton (I'm not a brock fan) but that was driving!!! every corner the back is out and you can see the skill required  not saying then new drivers don't have skill.

I did a couple of laps with Tander around Oran park just before it closed and the cars are just too good you come into a corner and think you have gone in to hot then on the other side of the corner you realise it had way more grip.

God I sound old.. Back in my day

Missed it last year being overseas and it seems my skills are not needed this year so I'm taking the wife and her X-Trail north for some fun in the mud behind Coffs Harbour.....

Will be there next week. I should rent the house out and take the KK away instead. Some friends of mine did it last year and got $3k for the week in rent.

Same, used to go the Monday before and come home the Monday after each year.  Fantastic break up on top of the mountain.  Pretty disillusioned with the V8s.  They are not Holdens or fords, just bodies of those cars with totally different gear to what we can buy to drive on the road and they get told what to use for so many components of the car that there isn't that much difference between the cars anyway.  Went to the 12 hour race a couple of years ago, that was good but doesn't have the big event atmosphere that the V8s has.

it is still racing though, and the mountain just adds that extra element on the unknown.

The worst thing is that 90% of the field are just there to make up numbers...

The word "Tad" is an understatement...

Alot  of them seem to be guys that can pay to have a race...........it's obviously a fair bit of coin, but they must have some skills............I would hate to be the amateur that slid a $1000,000 (or whatever cost) car into a railing or in to another car................

Personally I think the mountain and the length of the race ensures a fairly even race. This is the only race I watch as the Ch7 telecasts are usually crap.

Used to be worth watching when the adage of "win on Sunday ,buy on Monday" could be applied and not just Ford versus Holden , was proper marque racing , when you had cars like a Mini Cooper S giving a Jaguar and Ford and Holden a flogging !

I wish they would televise production car racing, that's about as close to the old days you'll get.

I'll be watching.  ;D Its still a good race as its long and anything can happen. In a way its a shame the cars are purpose built racecars and not modified production - its basically a 1000km sprint now rather than having to be gentle and nurse a fragile production car to the end.

I think the best times on the mountain would have to be the 70's with the late 80's and early 90's close behind

Murph on pole, I'm sure he'll find something to complain about by tomorrow.

Pity about the rain, looks like it will be a slow race tomorrow.
