Please post your scams here rather than start a new thread.

I think the fact that "Julia" sent it Prado BB we should KNOW it's another scam.....hehehe

But seriously most of the time the grammar in these scams is pretty bad and it can give them away immediately...

It's definately buyer beware these days..  >:(

Wife almost got scammed by the puppy sellers.

She saw a puppy online somewhere going for a good price, deceased estate etc., and organised to have it freighted COD.
On the day of delivery she received emails and phone calls (from an Indian) to deposit the $$ into a Western Union account in Cameroon....

Not a chance she fell for that once Western Union was mentioned.

Had a very sad daughter though  :'(

Another scam that targets sellers of livestock - puppies and kittens mainly - The buyer gets in touch via email (puppies to be freighted) and pays by Paypal but inadvertantly pays way too much - then requests that excess or whole amount refunded via Western Union so transaction can take place. Seller is send confirmation of tyhis transaction via email from Paypal and refunds $ by Western Union.

Seller then checks Paypal account to find no money - email was bogus and funds sent thru Western Union withdrawn.

Cost the last person $1200.

Ouch!

My wife got a letter from spain, addressed to her initials stating that after an aborting effort she is the only person they could find who was related to a female person wth my family name.(Mind you if you do a simple search on facebook there are a sh#t load of us ). Apparently this lady had something like 3million,7hundred and something eauros and we are entitled to it,this so called barrister who went through the efforts of making this letter look real, even with a letter head was saying that we will work together and both share the money left behind by this woman. Straight onto crime stoppers then onto scamlink and yes they said it was a scam, they say they want to help you and that we're in this together and then they ask for your details and empty you out. I hope they catch these bastards,If it's too good to be true listen to your gut insticts.

An email sent from Aust Post via US parcel service with an attached zip file, showing the invoice and that my package had arrived t the post office....Aust Post don't email with attached zip files....they don't email at all when a parcel arrives...they put a note in the letter box.

The zip file contained a virus...my computer OS picked it up...

Cheap Jayco Van ..... I smell scam
« Reply #14 on: November 05, 2011, 10:02:22 PM »
Hi All,

Just joined myswag and have just bought an old Jayco Scenic. First step up for us from a tent/swag and looking forward to getting out and about in it. Have been trawling the treads for tech hints and tip - thanks all, a lot of great stuff here!!

Anyway, tonight I was searching Tradingpost, Ebay, etc, for a camper for a mate and this one turns up on Ebay search on the price range I was looking at:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2005-Jayco-Heritage-30th-Anniversary-Pop-Top-Caravan-/320787797069?pt=AU_Caravans_RVs&hash=item4ab071544d#ht_1154wt_1848

I smell a scam as it is:
- Buy it now price way too cheap
- all the text appears to be an image rather than text (avoiding some sort of automatic Ebay filter?)
- he seems a bit excited about no one bidding before he can have a chat to you on his hotmail

The ad will probably get pulled before this thread is up for more than a day, so I have printed a PDF of how the ad is presented now. Happy for mods to delete the thread is the link to ebay becomes a dead link. Otherwise, I have hosted the PDF of the ad here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?8n8e3knfhyw8tse

What do you all think? Not sure how he gets to have good feedback if he is a scammer, but maybe it is all legit.

I am not interested in the van myself, just thought it would be good for conversation. Anyone want to email him to see what his story is ... I cbf.

Warren.

According my work email, I have a number of outstanding parking and speeding fines from New York City, and I must pay them now before I'm penalized with legal proceedings against me.

I get just as many of those emails as I do for Viagra advertisements.

I've never been to the US.

It's not the offer of viagra that worries me or the ones offering a drug to give me a bigger willy (how do they know), Its the constant offer of Russian brides. I'm already married and am generally in enough trouble with her, Why would I want another wife!

Got phone call on Friday from an Indian call centre telling me that my computer had been infected and that if I gave them remote access to my computer they could fix it.

I told them I didn't have a computer and they hung up. Go figure.

Might be a 2 for 1 special price deal, buy the Russia wives and the Viagra is thrown in for deal.

They drive a " hard " deal those Russians

If it sounds to good to be true it is. The scammers typically use stolen eBay accounts hence the feedback.

WOOHOO

15 minutes after listing the car on the tradingpost and gumtree and I have it sold sight unseen and for $600 more than I asked for. The deal was done within 1 hour of listing.

The money has been sent to my paypal account and he has included an extra $2000 for his agent. Its a pity the post office is closed as I will have to wait until Monday before I can transfer the agents money but in the mean time someone else wants to buy it sight unseen.

I have told him that the other Nigerian wants to pay $600 above asking price, cant wait for his offer... if there is a lot of these guys I might end up selling it for more than I paid new...

Well they don't muck about.  here is most of the transcipts for the first scammer.

I let predictive text do its own thing, just so they get to understand what its like reading there crap.

The money will only reflect in your account until you reply back to the confirmation email you received from PayPal by sending the mtcn number of the $2,000 that is to be send to my pick up agent so that they can come for the pick up..if you have gone through the email you received from PayPal very well regarding the payment i made...you must have been notify about all this,And paypal will not allow me do cancel or refund my money back to me until this transaction is completed because it has been deducted from my account and they are doing this to protect both the seller and the buyer...
To make this issue very clear to you, just reply to the confirmation email paypal sent to you and ask them anything you want to ask cos it is easier and faster because i will like it to be pickedup on Tuseday morning...You will surely get the reply from paypal as soon as you have replied to the mail they sent to you..
Advice positively..

Sorry but the email is very hard to follow, your english is not the best.

I do have someone else interested now and they have offered more and they also will purchase it sight unseen and through an agent.

I think I will sell to them now.

Thank you anyhow

But As per the e-mail paypal sent to me which is also similar to yours, you will have to make a payment of $2,000 via western union office at your post office to the address given to you, and you will be given the information requested which you will e-mail to paypal by replying to the confirmation mail sent from them regarding the details you have from western union...and you will receive the whole money in your account without any delay,so dont have any problem regarding the payment i made cos the money have been deducted from my account and willbe credited into your account immediately PayPal get the necesary information require from you so kindly read the mail sent to you very well...And you can arrange this tomorrow either

I just want to inform you that i have just completed the payment and i hope you must have been notified in your email about the payment i made through PayPal, you can check your e-mail for confirmation of payment, I have just make the payment of $54,800.,i have decided to add the amount of $2,200 which i paid through paypal, you can now send $2,000 to my pick up agent via western union so he can be able to come for the pick up and also PayPal said they won't release the funds until they get the western union information from you due to the fact that i emailed them about the excess payment i made.I will need you to send the $2,000 to my pick up agent Headquarters where they normally confirm any commission payment to via western union money transfer(this can be done from the post office, as they usually have a western union agent there) , i added extra $200 to cover the western union charges which shouldn't be more that $60-75 but just to be sure i added $200, Here is my pick up agent Headquarter info needed to get the money sent through western union money transfer

-------- Original message -------- Subject: Problem About Payment From: John West To:

Oh,i got this from my agent now which I need to inform you about this, just received an email from my pick agent...am most sure i did not include that in my previous email,he said he won't come for the pick up unless i pay him the agent commission fee first in order to be able to schedule a pick up time and my pick up agent Head Quarters is in the United Kingdom and all commission payment made for pick up from anywhere in the world is sent to their Head Quarters in the Uk and the only form of payment they accept is western union money transfer.
I have tried to pay online but i will need a credit card which i didn't bring aboard the ship, and there is no post office(there is usually a western union section in most post offices) or any western union agent on sea! so i have to ask you to help me with the pick up fees, i will include the $2,000 they charged to pick it up and take it my home(1st class treatment),to the payment i will send through PayPal, after i have made the payment.
I will need you to help me send the $2,000 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer, the western union money transfer can be made at a post office near to you, there is always a western union agent in most post offices or online at www.westernunion.com .I will be making the payment shortly and will email you as soon as it has been done.
