Afternoon All
Well I have been told that it is time I stopped lurking around the Forum and properly introduced myself. My name is Jill and, in the words of the founder of Myswag.org, I am Brett's "Swag Warmer" aka "Missus" aka "Other Half" aka "Drinkin Buddy" and so on
.
I am a past CT owner (O'Mara's Soft Floor which I had to sell due to a change in "circumstances") and I too am a fan of all things outdoors. I have been fortunate that in the past a lot of my "exploring" of good ol' Aussie has been done while living and working on several cattle stations in Queensland. I was born on Nappa Merrie Station (the home of Burke & Wills Dig Tree) which is on the banks of Cooper Creek in far SWQLD just shy of the South Australian Border. I lived their for seven years and then moved to Bulloo Down Station which is also in far SWQLD (South West of Thargomindah). We moved from there to Coorabulka Station which has the Georgina River running through it and is 150km SW of Boulia and from there went to South Galway Station which is about 100km SW of Windorah and is part of the Cooper Creek Channel Country. After finishing school I then went working on several stations including Budgerygar near Yaraka, Iffley Station North of Julia Creek, Lawn Hill Station adjacent to Lawn Hill National Park, Durham Downs Station on Cooper Creek and then Isis Downs Station East of Isisford. Rockhampton (and now Gracemere) is actually the first town I've ever lived in so some might say I'm a bit of a Bushwacker! Maybe I'm biased but I reckon the Channel Country is some of the prettiest country I have ever seen - especially after a good season. The wildflowers and wildlife are just amazing....and some of the people you meet are just priceless characters.
There is so much more of our great country that I am busting to see however work always gets in the way of my fun so I will just have to check it out little bits at a time. And don't worry, Brett and I are working on once again becoming Camper Trailer owners! I mean crikies...how does the Founder of Myswag.org not have a Camper Trailer? It's like a Jockey without a Horse .
I look forward to getting to know you all better and hopefully getting to meet some of you face to face in the near future.
Tootles for now...
