Bathing Bubs when bush camping
« on: August 27, 2011, 09:25:19 AM »
Hey all, as the heading says, we are heading of in about a month for a week or so of bush camping with my family, wife, my 4yr old boy, and our 3 month old daughter, heading out Capertee, Hillend way along the Turon river.

Am taking the shower for the big kids, but am wondering wat ideas are out there in swagger land for bathing the bub, water shouldnt be a prob given were camping on the river, but more so wat ingeniuos ideas u may come up with.

Our basic idea is to double up on my tool box which is plastic and carries tools, filters and the basics, empty in out each day, bath the girl in it.

Other plan would be to carry the baby bath, and do the bathing business, only drama is carring something else, which i'm trying to avoid.

Anyway ur thoughts are appreciated.

Regards Swanny   ;D

1st thought is a large plastic storage bin for storing gear in ad doubling as a bath?

Pre Quantum, when we didn't have a shower or sink, Mrs T & I had quite adequate baths simply using warm water in a bowl or bucket & a washer.

I'm guessing a 3 month old goil, isn't going to stamp her foot and say, "dad, this just isn't good enough, I want to be fully immersed in water, in a tub, with bubble bath"!   8)

We use one of those big round flexible buckets with the two handles on top. When travelling we carry our Cobb in it. Before we used this we just did it in the sink.

We use our 50 ish litre storage tubs to bath the littlies. Also work great to keep them cool on some of the hotter days too. As long as water isn't a problem.

Another vote for a storage tub.... get 2.... stack 1 in the other with the one with your gear and lid on top. The one underneath can be your bath. Takes up virtually no extra room (slightly more height) and it means you don't have to unpack and repack all the time.

My only suggestion is to do it in the middle of day... mornings and evenings get pretty cold out that way.

we had an inflatable duck.. that the daught loved.. sitll does but being 2 years old doesn't fit any more..

packs flat, i had storage containers, but it was just something that took up space, and i generally then doubled it up - so i would store something in it, but then it becomes a pain in the arse to empty it and fill it and dry it to get everything back into it.

Solve the packing unpacking issue by using tubs that stack, a second tub fits under the first and doesnt take take up that much extra.room.

You have a Jayco, why not use the sink?  Our three year old still loves it.
