That must be hugely disappointing for you. Can you pick up a rent-a-camper in Cairns and have another crack?

That's the plan Mate, as soon as I know what's going to happen with my camper were off for another go.

In 09, I stopped at Coen for fuel and lunch, I thought it was a nice little community, every one smiled and should be proud of the level of customer service offered, it was far better than most of the big towns and cities. I'll be stopping there next trip too, just to spend some money there, my tourist dollar helps the whole community prosper. ;D it was good that you all escaped without injury.

I thought the car was going over for a moment, I have sent pics of the dodgy welds and spoken to Pioneer and not much joy there, it's out of warranty and they have got there money!
sad how so many companies have that attitude...

Good to read stories like this. Will be travelling to the cape in just over a week so will be sure to stop at the cafe in coen. Interesting reading the roxby downs story. Having lived in roxby for 12 yrs some 13 yrs ago and being a member of the local volunteer fire brigade , many trips to collect roll overs etc on the oodnadatta track took place. Many of these events were tragic enough but extremely rewarding with the praise from the people involved. Quite a few sad memories of some of those incidents but won't go into those. We pray we won't require the assistance of kind hearted people like those of Coen in the next few weeks.

Two trailers with the same failure, now that could be a worry.

Thanks for the offer Mark, we have leased an apartment in Port Douglas for three months as I think it may take this long to get a result, can't think of a better place to hold up for three months- FNQ just love it.

Once again thanks for the offer :cup:

Don't suppose you know how long ago it was that this one happened? I'm not a member on that forum so can't ask questions and have I got a lot of Questions for MR PIONEER.

Peter,

I would be sending a PM to one of the moderators at Pradopoint asking for the Guy with the Pioneer trailer who suffered the same problem to contact you.

If you both approach them with the same problem, then they would have to come to the party.

You going to replace it with the same camper?

Not sure what I will replace it with as yet, I do know it won't be a Pioneer, real keen on the KK

Good to see that the insurance is sorted out now Pete.
At least that gives you a chance to get on with your life.
It sounds like there should be a recall on all that model trailer because of serious safety issues.
I wouldn't like to be travelling past you when that happened. It could have been a really serious accident with loss of life.
cheers
Dave

I agree Dave he they should do a recall, I have informed the owner of Pioneer and sent him photos of both mine and the other Pioneer camper that came to grief in near the same way as my Pioneer, apparently he is in the process of selling out to an eastern states company, I guess they are left holding the baby now, I can't even begin to imagine what would have happened if we were travelling at speed on a sealed road.

Hope Silverton goes real good for ya Mate I'm sure it will.

Interesting isn't it.

Rumpig had a failure in his KK and they responded quickly and comprehensively, reinforcing their reputation as a maker of quality campers. Pioneer have the opportunity to do the same here, or lose their shirt based on a lack of consumer confidence in their build quality and especially, their lack of commitment to their product. Let's hope they take the better course of action and look into this.

The Pioneer was written off by CIL the insurance company and they have paid us out, and as D4D mentioned we have ordered a Jayco, we have rented an apartment in a resort at Port Douglas while we wait for the Jayco to be built, were doing it real tough ;D

Getting real itchy feet though
