GQ TOWING OUTBACK SWAN
« on: August 04, 2011, 11:59:27 PM »
What are peoples thoughts on a natrually aspirated 4.2 diesel gq patrol lwb towing a jayco outback swan.Just after a bit of feedback as i would really like an eagle as it suits the bill to a tea, size and weight wise but there doesnt seem to be any on the market the swan is about 80kg heavier than the eagle unladen do you think this would make a big difference? so we were thinking maybe the swan as there are lots on the market.thats my other question why are there so many swans for sale?cheers in advance Trev.

Trev.
A TD42 with standard wheel size will pretty much tow anything anywhere, The real question is how fast you want to get there and where are you going. On the flat country you should be able to travel at the speed limits no worries but in the hills your going to pay alittle be who cares if your have'n a holiday and not holding up to many other travelers  8) Buy what suits you and travel accordingly. Theres always someone faster than you, but there will always be someone slower too.

With a diesel, the extra 80 kg's won't make any difference....but as said, the old boat anchor wasn't the most powerful thing going around...but you already knew that.....

If you have kids...get rid of one of them....theres your 80 kg's straight up.  !!    ;D

Swan's were probably the most popular, so there will be more around 2 nd hand. !!

One of the benefits of having a swan or flamingo which i didn't notice straight up was that the awning length is a lot better than the shorter eagle/hawk. Fits the table, a couple of chairs and the weber better.
The extra 300mm is worth it.
