I have an Aluminium Robust Camper trailer I am trying to sell. It made me wonder where most people have had the most success in selling their last camper, when they upgraded. It might be an interesting Poll. In case you were going to suggest - I will advertise mine on the Forum as soon I take some picky's.

Hi Flem,

We advertised on the My Swag Classifieds, The Trading Post, and a local online classifieds.

The only nibble we got was from the Trading Post and they ended up buying it.

But we also got a few scammers trying to get to us from the Trading Post as well - so watch out for that - basically we ended up not replying to any SMS or emails.

Good luck with the sale

Thanks Travin,
I have mine on trading post and went through the scamming thing as well. It seems quite common practise at the moment.

What's the scam off the Trading Post?  How are they trying it on?

The Trading Post Scam

First you get an email or an SMS that just says something like "Is your Camper Trail still for sale?" or "how much is the Camper Trailer" (even thought the price is on the listing)

Then if you reply to this you get this type of email:

"Thanks for the mailing back...I am buying this for my sister.so am willing to offer you the amount you required, and also will want you to get back to me with some pics, would be willing to make the payment for it but i am making the payment via PayPal cos am not around for now cos of my wedding preparation and would want you to get back to me with the PayPal email address for me to make the payment and if you don't have a PayPal account yet, you can set one up at www.paypal.com.au it can"t take you less than 3 mins to do that.I hope you understand and get back to me with the required info for me to effect the payment asap. Many thanks.  Tim."

When we were selling our KK I advertised it on this forum, CaravanCampingSales and another 'exploring' forum - even amount of enq's from My Swag and CCS (heaps) and the final buyer finding it on the CaravanCampingSale site.

Took ten weeks.

First to see bought it and got my price as well.

Must have sold too quick to get a scam contact.

for us i sold our soft floor camper trailer by doing a detailed video on the in's & out's of all inside and out of the camper. uploaded it to you tube and prospective buyers were just emailed the link and it was just like them actually being there.

my vids on our camper we sold...................

these videos ended up convincing a buyer to come all the way from Melbourne to the Northern Rivers of NSW.

YouTube vids are fast becoming a great idea.

Sold a line trimmer on eBay for a good price that was helped by a vid that the thing worked.

Had ours in the trading post for a week or so.

Also had it on the front lawn with a "For Sale" sign on it and a guy knocked on the front door and bought it  ;D

Nice topic Flem, I also have to sell my old camper and not sure which way to go as it is expensive to place an add in the paper.
