CTA - Outback Queensland in a Trackabout
« on: June 06, 2011, 04:39:24 PM »
Hey guys - a sneak peak of what I've been up to in Outback Queensland over the past couple of weeks. The Trackabout's going strong despite some hellish roads and high creeks. Hopefully the attachments work...

Here it is at the top of Big Red. Nobody else around, so we camped up there. Best campsite ever.

Silvo,

Simpson is still closed, we just went out to Big Red from Birdsville via a big detour around a lake on the eastern side. Half a lake on the western side...

Prado V6 Petrol did fine, mate. Plenty of tug. Just had to let the tyres right down for the steep stuff. Eats petrol, though. Running around 23-25L/ 100km most days towing.

Great photos Carlisle - you're making me (as well as most others here I'd wager) very jealous!

Sounds like there's still a fair bit of water around out there?

Classic!  :cup:

All the best for the rest of the trip - I can't wait to see any more pics - might just have to buy the mag then!  ;D

Thanks!
Matto :)

Well you are getting the new hard floor and the innovation, any you are going to tow it with the OLD prado, may as well up grade to the 200 now. Shame you are working for H and not Toyota ;D

Hi Skip, just wondering when you were out at big red and what the conditions were like. I am heading out there in a few weeks and was wondering what the track is like and how much water was still out there.
