My understanding is Rodney shut the tracks (money pits) down to save the tyre business. The anger should be directed at Rodney not Bob.
Calders not closed, it just doesn't/can't run CAMS or ANDRA events thanks to Bob playing Mr tough guy.
Poor business decisions have plagued Calder to decades. 55 million dollars spent on the Thunderdome for something that people showed interest in for 5 years. Largely thanks to the Group A era (pre Ford V Holden V8's). Spent a motza on track lighting, paid for TV coverage, appearance money and big prize money, all for the NASCAR/AUSCAR boys. Problem was not enough spectators turned up to watch. One time they gave away something like 5000 free tickets, only to have 2000 people turn up. So who paid for all of this? Drag race fans who turned up in droves, but when ANDRA and Bob fell out and then CAMS and Bob fell out the money stopped coming in. Poor old Rodney had no choice, had Bob showed the same love for Drag racing as he did for NASCAR the place would be thriving today. Rodney estimated that his father has tipped almost 250 million dollars of his own money into Calder and have a look at the state of it.
No point be mad at Rodney for his fathers poor decision making.
