Tell us do you drive a manul or aoto  & why  ?
Manual is my go as I know when to change gear , dont need my truck to take control thats my job  :cheers:

A Sportsmatic auto  just go auto or use as a manual

Always said I'd never have an auto 4 wheel drive.
Then I buggered 5th gear in the Patrol towing our camper.
Got crap economy towing in 4th.
So I bought an auto, now I'd will never go back to a manual.
Unreal to tow with and even better 4wding in.

Got a manual, but would love an auto.  Next one will be an auto , so long as there isn't any massive loss of power.

Manual for me. It's about the having the satisfaction of making the vehicle work with me rather than 'just' having it work for me. :cup:

Also, after 115000km the Buggy still has original brake pads and linings. Nothing like compression braking to help your brakes last. Pads 1/2 worn and linings are at 1/3 left.

Exactly Speewa, Auto's are lazy and there's no skill in driving one. (D and go yeah that's real hard  :cheers:), Until I can't drive a manual I aways will !!!

Auto (for the other half) who rarely drives anyway. but as manual mode tiptronic for me to play with, awesome for towing.  ;D

Love my manuals as like the others, i like to control what's doing in the car.Want to make it feel odd, drive an auto HR, that was something different

Now this is a hard Question,,, the ute is manual and its the 4b,,  both trucks i drive are manuals, and, i think i would be quite happy to jump into a auto when i upgrade the 4b..!..
Now heres a spanner in the works,,,
Whats better on the sand,, manual or auto..?????

Prefer manual, but the other half seems to get better fuel economy in auto - the Paj has sports shift, and I try to soft peddle it and keep to a set RPM range.

In sand, auto seems to work well. At least in manual, you can put your foot into it (just because you can - what's finesse?)

The Paj Auto is just 'smart'. Still trying to work it out!!! Very impressed.

spend too much time in sydney and couldn't be bothered with a manual!

Although if there are still manual cars around in ten years time I would consider getting one as I would like my son to learn how to drive a manual car!

My 2 cars at home are auto but the PoS Toyota Yaris that work gives me for free in South Africa is a manual. Fortunately there are no cliffs to push the thing off nearby

I ended up in a Prado which I bought for a steal!! It just happened to be auto... and I just loved the fact that the toyota box still held in low range first for down hill control... it was brilliant.

Stupid me thought it was the new style of auto box design and that it was like that in every new vehicle

WRONG!!!!

My Patrol is auto and it runs away in first low... red lines real easy... so I have to ride my brakes to keep control. I loath it!

But i think it may be the 3 ltr engine that doesn't have the compression to hold the truck at a sensible rev.

Its bearable and not worth spending $3,000 or so to install rock climbing gears.. so I just put up with it.

being south of the border, it is always going to be a manual for this little black duck. i have noticed that autos in the sand made it less of a challenge when the going gets a tad soft, but on hill climbs we both got to the same points. but i must say i do like manuals,you can push start them, you can key start them(can you key start a auto in drive,i have never owned a auto , please pardon my ignorance).you can drive the home when the clutch fails. but i must say the biggest selling point is , it is too hard streching your stubbie holder(my swag of course) over the t-bar on a auto. easy peasy on a manual. i rest my case. cheers@beers Graham

I like the auto in the patrol, the amount of k's idrive a week it's nice to sit back & relax on the weekends.

I have a foot in each camp. I enjoy the manual Hilux which is my daily driver, but I love it when I hop into the auto Prado which is SWMBO's daily driver, put the foot down and just go, no thinking about changing gears.

Either way really doesn't bother me.
