Does anybody know about or have one of these generators? Seem like good value.

Sorry - Cant help you with the question but interestingly the listing talks about how it was tried and tested with rave reviews by the Victorian 4WD Club and to refer to the pic.

You look at the pic and all you can see are NSW number plates.... not sure how that works because we know none of the sellers on Ebay lie

Wouldnt read too much into this - we drove around Vic on WA plates for a year.

Look at his rating 100% over 3000 products that would give me a lot of confidence.

I'm looking at one of these also and will get one when my trailer is getting close to completion. At that price its worth the punt IMHO.

I have brought from this store on a few times and found them great , got my Thumper from them , rang them up to get a deal.Do see that 2kva no longer avail. Do know from when I was involved in a camper-hire business we tried a few different gen sets and always came back to Honda. Engal had a very similar product to Honda but it was the exhaust which was the key to Honda being so good. Also in WA some parks only allow Honda gen set to be used .
Also back up service is something to look into , if you have to pay to ship it back to Qld for a warranty claim that can add some dollars to its cost. If its free shipping back for warranty proves they believe in their product.

100% E-bay rating.    How long after the purchase/sale can this rating be effected or changed?  Once positive feedback is given at the time of sale, is that it?  Or 6 or 12 months down the track when the generator plays up can it be altered then?

I'm not bagging the Bush Power Generator as I have had nothing to do with them, but more questioning the reliance on the E-bay rating system.

I rang the 1800 number and spoke to the gentleman involved with this product. He said they are out of stock at the moment and new stock will be available in about 3-4 weeks. The new batch will be about $40 dearer. He seemed resonably confident in the product, but did not really convince me to buy one straight away. I rang our local agent for the Bushpower generator (Battery World) and their price is approx $1700. Not a bad mark-up
Gunna Do - yeah I agree with you - what happens if it turns out to be a piece of crap?. I guess it depends on their after sales service and as Digger said it would cost a small fortune to keeep sending it back and fowards for repairs.

You have hit the nail on the head as far as ebay feedback goes (and not bagging this seller - just in general)

Once you leave positive feedback that is it - locked in. As you say a lot of people get a new product - unwrap it, turn it on and it works - leave excellent feedback. If the unit breaks the next day they cant change it. From memory you also cant leave feedback after something like 8 weeks - so even if you wait to leave it on something like a gennie it doesnt really reflect long term durability just that it looks shiny and works when they first got it.

I swear I have even seen people leave feedback like " excellent seller -  5 stars. Cant wait to use it" all that tells us is that the seller actually sends you something.

g'day just the other day i bought a engel shx 2000 generator. i got it at rays outdoors.. i really wanted the smaller one but they had sold out. at $800 i couldn't really knock it back. the smaller one was going for $600...it might be worth your time checking out your local rays outdoors.just a thought well known brand.

I bought one from battery power
I figure If a brand like battery power backs them they can't be that bad

And so far its good does the job at less the half the price of Honda

I know a honda would be better but I don't use it enough to justify the cost
( it's only there to run swmbo hair dryer)

Whist starting it for the first time seemed a bigger hassle than what it should have been (turns our we didn't put enough fuel in to start with). Upon basic testing, seems to do what it says it will. Much better value too.

I also bought my 1KVA Bush Power Genny from Australia Direct, and so far so good, they offer a TWO year warranty on this product.
I have no association with them, just a happy customer.

I'm no expert ... I thought that was the point of the rating system.  It's just for the seller.  Product isn't what's dealt with on EBay ... it's selling and purchasing.  Product doesn't get a rating to my knowledge. 

Perhaps visit the Choice website, as they rate product on functionality and price.

I have the 1kva black ridge which is the same, only use it to charge the camper battery with a 16amp projecta charger works fine- each to their own but I couldn't justify the big price of a Honda etc. simply to charge the battery.

Just for the record my neighbour has the 2kva battery start, the battery didn't last long but he's wired it to start off the car battery via his Anderson plug, he is also happy with his, he bought the bigger model as he sometimes uses it with a heater in his camper.

Depends on what size your battery charger is. A 25amp charger will charge your batteries at the rate of 25amps per hour, whereas a 50amp charger will get 50amps in that same amount of time.

I bought  one last year not a bushman but looks the same only in red used it a few times when the power went off to run the fridge and freezer and tv works fine starts easy but a bit noisy when first used it leaked petrol replaced 2 hose clips and fixed for the price you can't go wrong.

Same as at home using your 240volt charger. You don't ever use the 12v option on these things as they are rubbish on all brands and juts don't work well. On our Honda we also use the 240 charger (Well the once ever I used our genny). Your better to use the regulated 3-5 stage charger as you would at home, better for the batter etc.
