Gday all
Only new to the forum and enjoying some of the stories and photos of other campers what a great website. Anyway the wife and i and our 10 month old little boy are off on our trip of a life time for 12 months or so leaving darwin early july heading west toward the kimberley then down the west coast to begin with. Our camper trailer is currently under construction at mountain trail campers and is almost finished cant wait to get it here and start packin.
Being such a big trip we are going do do a few mods to the 07 hilux and one of those includes a diesel power chip for a bit more grunt with all our crap loaded up, just wondering if anyone has any opinions on either the dp chip or the steinbauer as they are the 2 weve narrowd it down to any advice would be great. cheers ben
will post up some pics of the new camper and truck when everythings done.
May see some of you on the road.

Both are very popular for this engine, presuming its a D4D.

Have you considered doing an exhaust first before the chip?
After trailing some forums the general consensus was it makes a bigger difference than the chip alone, idealy do both at the same time so the chip can be calibrated to suit.
The difference is staggering.
I have fitted one to my Prado and its made a massive difference. Turbo spools up a lot earlier, heaps more torque and does not drop off as much and fuel economy is much improved and tows so much better.
I also run a K+N filter which also made a difference.
I run a beaudesert system with a ceramic coated dump pipe. Its a bolt on system as the hilux one would also be.
Both DP and Steinbeuer are not cheap but are both widely used for the common rail Diesel.
So i would say 6/half dozen.
Might be worth jumping on a forum like newhilux for a read.
And Welcome to Myswag!
Hope this help.

Cheers BD  ;D

Be careful which chip you buy , some end up going into limp mode more often then not .
As mentioned , try "NewHilux" forum , have a good look round , all the chips have been tried there.

Cheers

I am inclined to do the tail pipe 1st see how that goes then the chip . Do a fuel run the with load , then compair the 2 , if your easy on the big pedel it will be good to you .
Over Easter we did 500 km easy rolling hills & flats sat on 96Ks got 15.6 /100 . dropped about 200 RPM & went down to 13.4Km on cruse . That works for me . On the wallaby time si not that inportant as it is in town , or it shouldnt  be
