Under chassis fuel tank.
« on: April 15, 2011, 07:18:52 PM »
Hi all. I did try the search so I apologise if this has been covered before. Does anyone know if there are any legal restrictions regarding fitting an under floor fuel tank to a camper trailer (in Australia). I am designing my ultimate camper trailer, and would prefer not to have to carry jerry cans. Thanks in advance.

I dont know the rules re fuel tanks but any of the after market tank makers could give you the good oil . Though just how much fuel do you intend to carry & why  ??? Might be better to have  LR tanks in the tug . It seems to me if you can carry 200 L or more that should give you a range that will cover most distances , the weight problem rears ite ugly head again . I would be inclined to think about water tanks in the CT rather than fuel at the design stage , Good luck as the build goes

How do you intend to get the fuel out of the tank?   With Jerry cans you use gravity but a low mounted tank will need a fuel pump.
