Mud flaps on stone guard

I want to attach some conveyor belt to the stoneguard. I was going to drill holes ~50mm apart on the belt and attach it with cable ties (12 per flap). Not sure if this would be strong enough. Flaps are 600mm x 350mm x 10mm. Any other ideas or suggestions would be great.

I welded on some 40x40 angle iron to the camper and bolted on the mud flaps with Galv bolts.
Not real keen on the cable tie idea, especialy having the stone guard taking the weight.

I got some 40x40 slotted shelving angle from Bunnings and used that. Easy to bolt up to the camper stoneguard and the holes are already there for you. It comes powdercoated in black and stands up to back country roads well.

 couple of years ago while towing our camper through Gregory NP I got hung up in a creek crossing and cut my stone flap in half. When we got to  Kununurra I did a temp. repair on it useing zippy ties(used a packet). Leaving Kununurra and heading off down the Tanami Trk, the zip ties lasted about 100kms before the rocks flicking up cut them to pieces.
I welded a peice of flat on the bottom of our stone guard and bolted the flap to that useing S/S bolts, large washers and nyloc nuts.

We put some truck size mud flaps on our Trackabout hire campers when they were taken to Camp York or Birdsville etc, they were held in with the large size zip ties and used two per hole, they lasted the entire trip, the bottoms of the flaps were half worn away from the constant pounding from the rocks but to my surprise the zip ties lasted. It will come down to the type of mud flaps you have on your 4x4, the bigger the better, This is not a great photo but it's the only one I had, you still get the idea,

Here are mine, rubber from Clarkes, aluminium strip bent to profile of stonegaurd, tek screws to hold it on. So far over 10,000 K's and still holding

The rubber is that used on trampolines springs to stop you falling through . Its soft & flexable . At slow speed it touches , on the road at 50/60 km they ride at 70mm off the road . the gibbers that fly are redirected out under the CT , away from harm & the truck . In the wet the back window hardly gets any spray on it at all . That works for me
