Roughing it in Rhynie Clare Valley - SA
« on: April 03, 2011, 06:12:32 PM »
Just wondering if there's anywhere in or around Rhynie in SA that's great for putting up the camper trailer. But, we're looking for somewhere that we can have a campfire (fire restrictions have been lifted), there's no power or facilities - we want to rough it. If the kids cope, we'll do it more often and for more than one night.

Cheers

Craig

Just had a look perfect!. Do we need to book with the property owners for a small fee or is it just arrive and relax?

Yep just roll up, The Clare Valley is a great part of Oz with many places close by. I have even camped up out the back of Clare at a State Park I think it was I couldn't tell you the name but I could guide you there..... That was over an Easter weekend and there was only one other camp there.

Burra Creek Gorge is a great spot but it does get very crowded during holidays and long weekends, Bundaleer and Wirrabara Forests are great camping spots also, but No fires of any sort are permitted to be lit by members of the public on ForestrySA land, including all Forest Reserves between November 1st and April 30th in any year.  :'(

Hey Bubba, I was at Crawford the other day and they have ended the fire ban early and allowing fires from the first.

Oh ok I was looking at the CFS site and I quote

"Use of Fire on Government Reserves
ForestrySA
No fires of any sort are permitted to be lit by members of the public on ForestrySA land, including all Forest Reserves between November 1st and April 30th in any year.  For further information contact ForestrySA Ranger staff on 08 8521 1700."

Maybe they have shortened it due to all the recent rain and everything being green again ???
