Hi All

Well today my wife and I, and our two boys, decided to head off on a recce to Sharp Park. Although it's only about 40 minutes from home, we've never been to have a look.

Well, can I say that on the surface, I'm impressed. It's much better than I thought it would be, and it was reasonably busy for an "ordinary" weekend...I guess people trying to get away before the big Easter rush? From my cruise around, must say I'm impressed with the rear fold ModCon Solution, and it just looks a little bit flasher than the Trackabout Safari RV which was across the road from the ModCon (sorry John).

We drove in and had a look around, then headed off up to Binna Burra, but, as it was raining up there, decided to head back down to Sharp Park for some lunch.

After the chicken had been consumed, it was down to the creek so the boys could get muddy/wet and generally have a good time throwing rocks into the river, until, as you'd expect, the eldest (all 5 years of him) decided to try and pick up the biggest rock he could find, and subsequently dropped it on his finger, which now has a black fingernail. Hmmm...how long do they take to fall off?

Anyway, Sharp Park (from my initial look) is a must for our family, and I'll be heading out there sooner rather than never.

The question is, with so many campers out there, were there any MySwaggers?

? You may have seen us creep by slowly in our Blue Subaru Forester? Anyone?

I also have nothing but positive reports for Sharp Park.Good management,nice and friendly place .My kids love it.

I can only vouch for the area - have never had to stay at Sharp Park as my family owns a nice big hilly property upstream from there in Witheren/Flying Fox. It's such a beautiful area, we often head to Canungra and just camp in the paddocks by the creek, even when there's a perfectly good bed inside the house/shed! You'd never think you were 45 mins from the Gold Coast strip!!

Hey Grant,

Reason Sharp Park was so busy on the week end was Camper trailers.org were have a get together there.

I also believe Robyn was cooking her famous midnight Orange and Poppy Seed cake on the campfire. I believe most go for that alone, but I'm told they had 25 turn up for it. Hope they all got a good sized piece!

I think sharp park is always busy. Went down a couple of weekends ago and was busy. There were quite a few caravans.

i stopped in there on Sunday morning about 10.00 a.m (white Landcruiser towing a Kimberley Kamper) to have a look around after camping the night not to far away elsewhere. the place resembled a refugee camp to me, it was absolutely packed, and not somewhere i would enjoy camping at. was a shame really, because last time i was out there (atleast 5 years ago), it was a quite little spot with alot less people camping there.

I was there for the weekend with the CT group. I did see Rumpig drive past - pity you didn't stop and say hello. What would you expect on a Sunday morning after a night around the fires. Robyn did cook her famous cake and once again it was delicious. I think we had roughly 20 - 25 participants there but it is not normally that packed. Take out the CT group and there would have been under 10 others.

hey Nobby,
sorry didn't realise who was camped there (before reading this thread) on the weekend, we were camped close by and stopped in with some mates, just to see what it was like there for maybe a future visit. will definately stop to say hello next time, if i realise who is where.

Sharp Park gets the thumbs up from us as well

Very well run and clean. We stayed there over Easter a few years ago and whilst it was close to full there were no probs

Certainly not the worst camp site we've ever attended, but due to the crowds it gets, not our favourite place ... but it is the shortest k's from home ... takes us about an hour.

Thinking about heading to Sharp Park for the June Long Weekend, has anyone been at this time of year? Is it cold or not too bad?

Everywhere is cold in June. They have fire pits so make sure you pack some timber. I'd rule out swimming in the river though. Keep an eye out for the resident platypus.

By cold they mean COLD, they have seen -5 with a frost

But it's nice through the week, packed on the weekend, when your on your way back stop and buy some plants from www.canopy.net.au

The guy who owns it is a bit of a prick

No, not today. But the min for May = -3.1 June = -4.1 July = -4.3 August = -4.9

That's record temps, -2 is not uncommon, but it is only cold on clear nights which means the days are sunny, mostly still, blue sky's 24 degrees STUNNING

just bring your beaning and a good sleeping bag, and some fire wood

I love the following link as you can type in a particular town and get more detail than BOM at times but not min & max annually ... http://www.ozforecast.com.au ... it'll open up and ask you to "type in town name" ... if it's not there, try something around that area. Gives you a pinpoint location to track on the weather map and a weekly forecast.

If you're thinking of heading to canungra in June/July, consider doing it on the weekend of the rodeo in town. Always a cold night, but good fun. Sharpe Pk not too far away. Be sure to have a Desig driver..

Thanks we are heading down next weekend, not sure if that's when rodeo is on? Hope it's not too wet!
