HI all- Camper trailer and a lot of Aus to see
« on: March 25, 2011, 01:58:23 PM »
HI all ,
Finally stopped just reading these posts  ;D
Well we are regular campers with a plan for 'The Big Lap' just before our second goes to school.  We love weekend getaways, 4WDing and bush camping... I made that sound like a personals add.  He he he
I live near Beaudesert have a 2 year old and a 7 yr old.  Both my husband and myself had parents die very young so there is no waiting until we retire to see Australia.    Can't wait.

Good on ya for doing it early.I did it when I was 26 with the idea of taking 18 months or so.Ended up being 7 years ... had an absolute blast, worked my way around lived and saw things that you just cant do on a normal holiday.
Cant wait to do it with my 2 sprogs one day. Im very envious .Your dead right there is sooooo much to see. ( I mean no disrespect  but despite popular belief ...the grey nomads dont know everthing.....)

Well, what a great welcome.  It is so funny how many people set off for 'small trips' and don't return for years.  We have suspicions we may be one of those people  ;D
I have to admit, I can't remember what brand of trailer we have - the company changed names since ours were built.  We were super lucky to purchase it from a guy who was Super Anal about the condition he kept his trailer in.  it was set up go offroad but he never went outside of caravan parks so was like new
We paid $5000 two and a half years ago and never thought money was better spent.

We drive a Pajero 2009 model.  It also pulls my horse float ( the other expensive habit I have !)
We have been  learning about 4WDing and camping with the trailer through a series of weekends and a couple of longer trips to Cairns and through central QLD.  We know what we want now, just slowly paying off the extras.

Off again for the weekend then a Easter week at Flanigans Reserve Rathdowney with about 40 people.  I am lucky my kids have the same passion for camping we do- my siblings and mother think I am mad most of the time  ;D

Just trying to learn as much as possible before th big one and intend to write my way around the country if for no other reason then to help the kids with the memories of it.

Kel
