Hard Floor Complete Campsite Camper Trailer
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:49:03 AM »
Just reading the latest issue of Camper Trailer Touring and have read that Complete Campsite have just release two new hard floor campers  8).

There are no pictures on their web site as of yet but the campers are meant to have been at the Camping Shows that have/ are happening at the moment.

Has anyone seen these trailers and if so any comments?

I also saw that in the magazine, I'd also be interested on what anyone has thought if they have seen them in person.

Went through the Complete show site at Caulfield and if they are the ones referred to in the mag, then they are the cross overs that were at the show. They are the next generation of Exodus campers that Complete now own and manufacture.

From memory, they were priced around the $75,000 to $86,000 ( the ones on display ).

Quite a nice unit but you would expect that for the money.

Cheers.

They had them at the Newcastle show.....they looked familiar to some thing I have seen before, but can't put my finger on it ..

They looked OK, but didn't find out any thing on them.....they certainly didn't look light !!

Exodus initially made the Kingston if that's what your thinking of gronk?

Swagger Dale owns one and you may have seen pictures of his on a thread before.

Cheers.

yep,  as Paul said they are an Exodus Kingston with a raft of changes that the Complete Campsite people thought were needed.

They make 3 different lengths,  the ones at the show were the short and longer one.

I havent seen the middle sized one but can only assume it is the same length as my Kingston.

The long one (Exodus 14) had everything under the sun built into it.
Kitchen was fantastic, built in generator cupboard , diesel hot water and heating, and an inside shower and toilet ( for skinny people ).

If you wanted a crossover van with everything it looked good.
Strangely though,  it seemed to have less internal room than my Kingston,  and less storage space,  but it does have a lot of inclusions.
The internal kitchen bench was also a bit high for my liking ( i"m short,  but not that short ).
The price did reflect what was in it ,  definately at the higher end of the market.

Not sure what it weighed but wont have been light.

I would like to see the middle sized one.
The reason we bought ours was we wanted 4 berths, inside and outside kitchen, lots of storage, next to no setup time, and light weight ( for what it is ).  Ours was 970kg's dry. With 180 lt's of water,  all of our camping gear,  clothes,  food etc and three batteries we go over the weighbridge at just over 1300kg's.

The bigger one just didnt impress me  as it seemed too big for what i want and where i would potentially take it.
Might make a nice long distance tourer but i wouldnt want to take it up a steep track.
However everyones needs are different and there were alot of people showing interest.

cheers

Dale

Oh,  forget,  the little one from memory was around $39k.
For a 2 berth, lightweight, reasonably well equipped, no setup camper i reckon it's still good value for the market it is in.

And i just reread my post,  if it seemed negative that's not what i intended.
Just that it didnt suit what I want .

Although dont tell my wife it has an internal bathroom.........

I don't see the point of the genny slide. Would you really run it with the slide extended next to the camper? Looks like a lot of wasted space.

HI VKPrado,  Yes there was one hard floor campers at the Caulfield show in addition to the cross overs.  The hard floor campers were made with Complete campsites usual quality build and they looked good except I didnt like the colour.  The have gone from the dark green to the white of the cross overs to keep everything the same. I think they should have left the campers soft & hard floors green and the cross overs white as differing identities but that is only MHO.  Price $35 -45K depending on options.  Competition for the Aussie Swag, Kimberley, AORC campers.
Cheers John

We have brochure and can scan and email if you would like.

The hard floor is called Byron - base listed at $39 950 optioned up to $48700 as displayed at show -all extra goodies that they offer in upmarket soft floor.

No not affiliated at all LOL!

It is really smart & what you would expect from CC.
Cheers John

Ah,  ok.   hard floor as in flipover.

I didnt see them .  Must have been too busy sticky-beaking  at the crossovers.

A shame,  wouldnt have minded a look at what they have come up with.

I thought it was a good idea, makes putting it into storage easier. Rather than having to lift and forcefully push it in, you just lift it onto the slide and slide it in. Easy! also handy too if you have to check fuel and oils, no slide would mean having to pull it out and put it down onto the ground.

I wouldnt have it running  beside the camper though.

Ive got the same idea for my gullwing tool box on my camper build.

Thanks jpak, you understand what I was asking. The hard floor (flip over) as apposed to a soft floor camper. I have asked for a brochure so will wait and see what they send me but thanks for the offer jpak

They only have a sneak peak on the website,
I hope there quality is as good as the soft floors as I reckon the girls will be gone in a few years and the boy will be in a swag,  and it will be time to change....

Competition for the Aussie Swag, Kimberley, AORC campers.

They had the hard floor at the Adelaide Show which I went to twice and managed to have a really good look at it for about an hour on the Thursday morning when it was nice and quiet.  They have copied Aussie Swag's swing around kitchen (bound to happen one day as it is so good).

I think Kimberley and AORC might have to look out but Aussie Swag have nothing to fear (in my biased opinion  ) - not even in the same ball park as far as build quality and refinement goes.  In saying this - it was their prototype model so things will probably improve the more they do.

Nothing like a one eyed biased opinion !! ;D....but KK is still the one all the others are judged by !! ( in my biased opinion !! :D )

After even a quick look at the CC hardfloor, it doesn't measure up against the top 3 ....yet!!     I won't try and bag it too much, but if you are going to charge the same price as the established brands, it needs to be the same quality....which at this stage, it's not ..

Hi Gronk,
it may be a stupid question and it may have been covered before but I have not found it yet.

In your opinion (and others I guess) what are the 'top three'?

My understanding is that the big THREE in no particular order is the Kimberley Kamper, Aussie Swag and Australian Offroad. This is in the Hard Floor category, In the soft floor the Complete campsite reigns supreme?

Thanks for that, I figured KK must be in there but the price really scares me. I do like the Australian off roads I have seen, but I have never really seen the Aussie swags. I am pretty new to this gig though.
So Campomatic doesn't squeeze in then,

The older Campomatics ...yes, but I believe the newer ones are made in China ( please correct me if I'm wrong )....not up to the same quality as the older ones..

Complete Campsite as no.1 in the soft floor market  ?? not sure if thats correct....but price wise??....yep, certainly up there ?????

Complete Campsite have also released 2 new models of a hard floor unit. Not just the re-vamped Exodus models.

I first saw them at the Newcastle show and then visited their showroom.

I think their version of the hard floor is the best I have seen so far. I was hellbent of buying either KK or Aussie Swag, but once I saw the CC one I knew I had to have it. So placed my order and take delivery end of May. can't wait.

They have been well known for their soft floor campers and the same quality has been put into the hard floor units. Plus I saved about $4k compared to KK and Aussie Swag.
