Which Brake Controller and Location
« on: March 04, 2011, 06:00:07 PM »
Hi All,

I hope I put this in the correct place.  I have 2 questions:

1.  Getting a Brake Controller in the next couple of weeks and searching for feedback on which one (thinking P3 / Prodigy).  I have checked previous posts and was wondering if the problems previously experienced are still occurring (possible bad batch??)

2.  Trying to figure out where to put "said" Brake Controller in my Triton.  Also, I am vertically challenged so no room near my legs.  Any help would be greatly appreciated and pics if you have any.  ;D

I have had the P3 for 3 years now and have not had a problem with it. I used to have a MK triton so cant help on the latest shape, maybe have a look at the forum Newtriton, I got my P3 off Ebay and it was the cheapest by far

Thanks GG, will look at forum over the weekend, was thinking in front of under the cig lighter (no ashtray installed) forward of the gear stick as there is a small tray which I don't use.

There are a number of members on the Forum with the triton, maybe have a look through the 4WD threads and see if there are any ideas there, if not PM them.

I have installed my brake controller in a triton where the ashtray was unfortunately there is not too many other places available to you, are you sure there is not a section in the dash where the ashtray would normally be that you can clip out.

Hi Fred Bear,

I don't have an ashtray only cig lighter, the button to the left is for the rear window.

I was thinking of putting it on top of the small tray in front of the gear stick

Do you think it'll work, are these units small enough?

Don't forget you have to be able to reach the controls on the unit and the override.  I have a  P3 / Prodigy.  It put it where the ashtray was. (Hilux)

Hi Hiluxben, I should be able to reach it, may need to check with the installer when I get there to see the best position.  If it is on a bracket above where I have indicated in the photo above it should be OK  ???.

Thanks Bushman, seem to be the favourites after various searches.
