Favorite getaway spot
« on: March 01, 2011, 08:53:52 PM »
Hello All  ;D
As i have mention before (in introduction section) My Hubby & i have been out of the camping scene for approximatively 2 & a half years. So now that we are getting back in to it we will be revisiting old favorites, but we would like to add some new destinations to our list. So can I ask where do you like to go & why.. I.E river, quiet, off road access, or good bike riding etc. We have to small kiddies tagging along now too, so playgrounds could be a goer..

In the past our favorites we as follows:

Jamieson, doctors gully : back then is was quiet & you could camp next to the river which was clear. had a long drop, but thats ok.. (not sure what it is like now, anyone know?)

Snowy River: off road access which limited campers ;), beautiful river for swimming, long drops.. Only down fall was, a few times there were lots of spiders, due to no rain :( did i mention the were big!!!!

Little Dessert: Good spot for Easter as it is warm during the day but cool at night. Downfall was no water in the river in the last few years, but hopefully that has changed.. And if you are not a fan of sand, stay out of the dessert lol

We do most of our traveling around Victoria, hoever would like to hear NSW & SA option too for longer get aways  ;D
We are also looking to organize a month trip up north (again) so any hidden treasure up that way too would be appreciated ;)

Nesspop,
The Mann River Caravan Park at Jackadgery is a gem, It's not the most modern of parks, But Barry and Jan keep it clean and are the best Hosts. The shop keeps a few things, If you guys drink a certain type of beer or drink, you can ring them and they will get it in for you prior to your arrival.
From the park it is a short walk to the river below the bridge in the post above . Our 12 year old thinks she is real strong, because she can hold up the bridge.
  :cup:
We spent many hours in the river when we stayed.

Thanks Barb,
Most of what I've learnt is from just Googling things I need to find out, the rest is, as Fysh would say, I have far to much time in my hands LOL.

Yeah Easter this year seems to be out for a lot of people.
Not just coming to Levuka, but going anywhere, some of it has to do with Easter falling at the end of the holidays I guess.
Not to worry, One day Barb, we'll catch up somewhere close by in this wonderful part of the country that we are lucky enough to have as a backyard  :cup:
