About us !!!

We are 33 and 28, get married in April. Our honeymoon is a trip around OZ from Briz to Briz, Via ( to mention a few big ones) Long reach, Alice, Perth, Broom, Darwin, Cape york then the east coast.

We have a 2004 GUIII Patrol, with a few things on her, 2 inch old man emu, dual battery and so on.

Looking at ways to attach a winch on to the factory standard chrome bull bars or on to the chase and thru the bars, but that is another story...

We have just invested in a trackabout camper and John there was fantastic ad so helpful.

We are thinking about the tyres for the Patrol we need for our trip. Looking at the Mickey Thompson ATZ 4rib. Pass us your Wisdome.

We will be looking at a few Trips away in March to test the camper before the wedding and the big trip so will be out and about but will advise nearer the time on that one.

Look forward to getting to know you all.

Congrats on the camper and joining myswag, sorry about the getting married bit :)

Tyres are like religion, nobody agrees, that said BFG A/T, MickeyT ATZ and even Bridgy D694s are all good.

D4D, She is nto that bad, YET

We went for the entry 4x4 Delux but stuck a few things on to it as well, Battery, Water, Metal pole box, the mesh annex as well as all teh good stuff that comes with it.

ATZ Rib 4 but love the look of the MTZ but was not sure if they would not be to much. The advise so far isteh ATZ Rib4 and unless we hear otherwise we are going for them on Saturday. Exciting times

G'day and welcome, it's a friendly bunch here 8)

We have Yokohama Geolander AT-S 265-75-16 and are very happy with them, their warranty is what encouraged us to move from BFG muddies.

We have had to replace two tyres, and because both of them had more than 75% tread left on them, they were replaced at no cost, no questions asked. 75-50% it's a pro rata replacement, and less than 50% tread it's on your coin. They are approx $250-290 per tyre, depending on size and where you are. We have got close to 40,000 kms on them and they are not yet half worn.

G'day Lee and Libs and welcome to Myswag.

IMO, rather than stuff around modding the factory bar, get a fit for purpose winchbar, ARB, TJM, Ironman and the like. Flog the factory bar and get a few sheckles back.

G'day and welcome honeymooners.
I'm running the atz 4 rib on my car and are very happy with them.
The nissan steel winch bullbars were the cheapest option when the bar on my Nissan needed to be replaced. It was even cheaper than the alloy bar.
With all that sorted enjoy your trip/honeymoon. As speewa said

;D Congrats on the wedded bliss and also the purchase.
Plenty of wisdom on here just ask...
I have an old GU with the factory alloy, patrol4x4 is a good place to see what can be done if you're handy, someones done this to a factory bar.
http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-patrol-gu-gr-10/winch-behind-alloy-bull-bar-27593/index2.html

(Sorry about the bit above, I'll learn how to name it one day  ;D )
I have been thinking of doing something about fitting a winch.... but otherwise it may be cheaper and neater to get a proper bar
Oh, and remember to have fun too
  Paul

Welcome to the Forum, as others have siad I would take off the bar and put on a steel one for a winch, there are a heap around that you could pick up for a bargain. By the time you engineer in a winch to the existing bar you would of spent more money and the first animal strike you will be back to square one.
