NRMA Premium cover
« on: January 29, 2011, 04:26:31 PM »
Well i'm glad we payed the $170 for premium cover now after transmission problems left us and camper stranded at Wee Jasper camp ground. Called the NRMA and they came out in under 2 hours and towed vehicle 55k to Yass and then returning to collect the Ulti trailer later in the day. After failed attempts to get the vehicle looked at locally they put us up for the night in 2 motel rooms and then towed both 4WD and camper 300km's back to Sydney the following morning with us all on board. Total cost would have been around $1600 but we were covered for up to $3000 under their major breakdown policy. All in all a very positive experience at quite a stressful time and its well worth the $170 a year if you do a lot of travel with a trailer in tow.

It seems you payed for the premium just with that one incident, I hope it ends well.

Hi Wortho

We use the Tasmanian version of premium cover and its good to know when we are on the nth island that we are covered.  Plus you get two for one!
My alternative to cheap import trailers;

We have NRMA premium cover as well.  A couple of years ago we separated a turbo hose between Gympie and Rainbow Beach and had to have the camper and vehicle towed back to Gympie.  Should have also mentioned that now I am Gold Member (there is a line there....lol) the premium is reduced.
