National Luna Fridges
« on: March 23, 2018, 02:32:29 PM »
G'day folks,

We had a National Luna fridge for a few years and it served us well with trips to the Kimberley, the Cape, and lots of smaller trips. Even with the small freezer on board it had economical power usage and was easy to keep at a set temperature. Auto cut out for low battery levels is a comforting inclusion, although it had never drawn enough power to come into effect.

Just before Christmas on a trip into the High Country it showed a fault code, but continued working although the lowering of the temps took a bit longer than normal. I took it to Cool Factor in Braeside (one of NL agents and a great company to deal with) whereupon they determined that the fridge had a terminal refrigerant leakage within the cabinet. National Luna were contacted and didn't even waiver, but handed over a new fridge.

I have no affiliation with National Luna but thought they deserved a pat on the back for standing by their 3 year warranty.

Thats an excellent outcome .  Wonder how many other brands would be so willing to do the same?
Having lots of friends on farcebook is the same as having lots of money in monopoly...means absolutely nothing!!

National Luna have been getting a lot of practice lately at replacing fridges -

and - https://www.conquerorforum.com/post/fridge-issue-8159318?highlight=fridge&trail=30

Seems they used a dodgy batch of copper and are having a lot of problems with refrigerant leaking. I think they're up to about number 30 on the Conqueror Forum (all Conquerors come standard with National Luna fridges). Feedback seems to be that everyone is eventually getting them replaced (even some that are not the original buyers), although some owners have had to do an awful lot of hoop jumping to arrive at that result. The level of success has varied a lot depending on which service agent has been used. Commonly, Dolium (the parent company) are wanting the faulty fridges returned to them in Perth (at the owners expense) for inspection prior to resolving any warranty replacements ?

I've got one, and I think it is in the period of dodgy ones  :'( It's been a great fridge so far, but every time I turn it on I wonder if today is the day ?

It's a great fridge, and hugely out-performs the 80l Engle I had..................just a shame the brand has been affected by a parts supplier, and you have to wait until it fails before they will do anything about it. I believe that it is a known problem affecting a specific batch of units that can be tracked via the serial number..............................should be a product recall in my books  ???
